Montreal’s O and D lines clearly won the line of scrimmage battle last night.
Captain Cody seemed to complete his short to intermediate passes with ease, Argos had no answer for it.
The inability of the Argos front four to create sustained pressure forced them into blitzing which put a lot of pressure on a defensive backfield that is trying to find its way (Folarin Orimolade is sorely missed)!
I like Dukes but I think he is destined to be an effective backup QB in the CFL, Toronto really misses Chad Kelly’s ability to throw to all areas of the field.
Once again the CFL’s incompetent officiating reared its ugly head on several occasions.

The Argos didn't lose because of the officiating, but the officiating was frustrating, nevertheless, if this makes any sense.

Not saying they did but I agree the bizarre nonsensical calls really detract from the game.

The Argos are still a good team; just not as good as Montreal now. Don't see another CFL team as good as the Argos outside of the Als.

Dukes is still very impressive IMO - poised, smart & mobile; he may not have the arm strength of Kelly to throw deep strikes, so the play-book has to change a bit for him; more run game - using all 3 of the RBs, plus designed Dukes run options, would really help IMO. O-line is still a strength and maybe better at run clocking (at least MacKellar did not seem to get blown by like a pylon like happened a couple of times last game; and what is the status of D. Giffen anyhow?); like to see Mital get a chance and he might be a deep threat.

And speaking of injuries, what is the status of Adeleke & J. Harry ? - whose veteran presence could perhaps really help this very weak Argo secondary (at least J. Edouard had some impressive play last night with some big hits and a nice pick); McFadden getting let go, I do not get; and same for Oakman - but maybe it was a personality thing mostly cause talent wise they are just not better without them, IMO. D-line will be better with Flo O back and young Parrish has a motor; Brinkman is a force at DT and Robbie Smith is still very good; not as much D-line rotation as under Mace it seems; barely seen D. Knight, and I'd dress young T. Hergott and give him a shot to see if he could help.

But, he also looked good against them in the 3 regular season games so maybe he is more effective, we'll never know...
Yes that's true but the Alouettes were a different, much better team at the end of the season and Kelly didn't look as sharp against them.

Yes I agree about Dukes, he is poised and impressive so far. I was curious as to why he wasn't throwing longer passes last night as he had certainly done more of that in the previous two games. Is it because Dinwiddie didn't want him to or was it because he wasn't seeing good targets further down the field? The offensive game sort of puzzled me, alot of ineffective short passes and very risk adverse, which was probably not a good strategy against Montreal.

I also think Montreal looks like the best team in the CFL at the moment.

To my eyes, Dukes was under siege on most passing plays. Rarely (if ever) had time to set up in the pocket and go through progressions. Mtl's pass rush was hellacious. Argos ran effectively early on, then went away from it (possibly because Mtl was stacking the box and daring Toronto to run or throw deep).

The defensive coaches completely failed on the Antwi "punt." It was obvious to me, sitting in the stands, that this was a possibility when Fletcher came off the field and Antwi came on. IIRC, there was a rather lengthy delay leading up to that snap, plenty of time for someone to twig to it and get in Antwi's face. Very disappointing that we became the latest victims of the dumbest rule in Cdn football.

Toronto took way too many stupid penalties.

Mtl is clearly now the team to beat in the East, but it's a long season.

Given that Giffen, Harry, Adeleke and Mital all went on the six before the season started, I have to assume all are legitimately injured. Mital in particular would definitely be in the lineup if healthy, given injuries to Brissett and Ungerer, and how good he looked in preseason. It's annoying that it now appears everyone on the IL is going to be six-gamed; if so, we'll never know which injuries are long-term and which are short.

I guess bogus allegations by AJ’s bestie had more of an effect than we can imagine. The more I hear, the more I believe Kelly was set up. I will leave it at that.

AV mentioned to look out for the “punt” before it happened, he had a good hunch it might happen and it did.
I really like most of the rules that make the CFL unique but this particular rule is completely asinine IMO.
As we all know too well regular season dominance means nothing, qualify for the playoffs and anything can happen.
