I'm not sure Dinwiddie's tinkering with the OL has been a success.

Possibly the worst game by the offensive line since August, 2022? Ryan Hunter did not look very good at RT today, did he?

They have a solid group on paper but they need to play together for an extended period of time.

Go Argos.
Nothing against Wilson, but the last thing TSN needs is yet another sideline announcer to talk endlessly during the play. Also I pissed at the result of tonights game and am in a foul mood. The entire complexion of this team will change for the better when Kelly returns.

Defense wasn't terrible.

Janarion Grant can't return to health soon enough, the same goes for CK12.

Game thoughts: Argos did hang-in there but the Als were better all-around IMO

- maybe going el-cheapo at RB was not the best plan - but just game 1, so lots to be determined there

- woulda been nice to have J. Grant at returner to maybe flip the field a couple of times

- Arbuckle did make a few nice throws - Coxie & Ungerer pulled thru a couple of times, but might be smarter to spread the ball around more

- Argos traded a proven starting OT for a LB who is viewed as a 3rd stringer / ST guy mostly (Varga had way more tackles in the CFL last year than Darkangelo did) ?

- Argos used to be a leader or innovator in D-Line rotation (DC Mace influence perhaps?) - getting all D-line dressed reps for different looks and keeping guys fresh - most teams do plenty of it now; didn't see either of Canadian DEs Hergott or Ojo play at all - but maybe they need a few more years to "develop" while raw rookie Chatfield does not ?

- wonder if there will be any O-line changes after this game result ?

- i thought Mital lost weight so he could be more of a downfield target ?

- Philpot was very close to 3 deep TD catches on the Argo secondary (but one nice play by McFadden & Slwyka combining for an INT)

It is only one game but based on this one game, one has to say:
.The OL was supposed to be the strength of the team ---it wasn't!!
.The DL was expected to be weaker with the loss of so many of last year's players----it was!!
.IMO McMahon is not an every down RB.--- I wonder if Carey is still available?
.Arbuckle is a competent QB and very good QB when he has a very good OL--but as we saw tonight only a so-so QB when he has a weak OL
.Turner is no Grant. Until Grant gets back, the return game is not going to frighten other teams.
.The team needs a WR who can stretch the field.

While I'm on my negative rant, IMO, TSN having an ex NFL player (Wilson) as the side analyst is disrespectful of the CFL. Surely there has to be an ex CFL player who could do the job just as well. Can you imagine if the NFL had an ex CFL player doing that role---would never happen.

Willson is a Canadian who played lots in the NFL - and 3 Down and other CFL media types are very big, often all ga ga on that; he has been doing Canadian TV NFL coverage commentary for some time, and is fairly well spoken, but yeah, i get your point.

For some reason the Als were fired up and ready to play, and the Argos weren’t. Focus was a little off. All those discipline penalties are proof of that. What gives?

I’m confident they’ll turn it around next week. He’s a great coach. There’s no way the O-line will ever blow that bad again. And of course, Chad Kelly.

But I am worried a little bit about team speed.Looking down the position groups including specials it looked like Montreal’s guys were a little faster. Or maybe it just looked like that because they were playing with a little more compete, I don’t know.

I’ve never liked Luke Willson but I was pleasantly surprised. He’s a shot of energy CFL broadcasts could really use. His take on the Als big 2nd half drive was refreshing in style and substance, especially to anyone who’s listened to Glen Suitor for the last 30 years. Willson has 150,000 followers on twitter and will surely introduce some of them to the CFL in a positive way.
