I really doubt the Argos didn't make an effort to re-sign Peters. He is now the CFL's highest-paid DB, according to 3DN, and Pickett is one of the highest-paid LB/DBs if not at the top of that scale. Re-signing either guy would have meant giving up something/someone else. They prioritized McManis and Orimalade on defence, and Ceresna is presumably a big-ticket guy as well. I'd love to still have Peters and Pickett, but as you say, the team could not afford to re-sign everyone. Tough choices had to be made.

The team's 16-2 record last year was to a very great extent a result of Kelly's play. Dukes may develop into a good starter but not having Kelly at QB puts the team at a real disadvantage.

The two trick plays hurt the Argos. The squibble kick to get a 1st down should have been seen as a possibility by the coaches--we were talking about the possibility just before it happened--so why didn't the Argo coaches?

The D line couldn't seem to put consistent pressure on the Montreal QB. That was a strong part of the team's D last year, even in the Eastern final. OK --the D line was missing Orimolade and Oakman but more was expected of the D line. Oakman sacked Cody 3 times in last year's Eastern final. The team could have used those 3 sacks last night. BTW where is Oakman?

In light of the secondary's recent play and especially now they has DB injuries perhaps the team needs to see if Daniel is available.

Just a few thoughts that have come to me after the Montreal

I would love to see Robertson Daniel back myself. Nobody has picked up Carnell IV or Priester either.
Ravi, regarding Daniel 3 Down Nation mentioned briefly (as in 1 sentence) that Daniel had retired. I would like to see Carnell and Priestner back but I guess the coaches like the younger guys better.

My comments had nothing to do with the allegations against Kelly, I was simply observing that I thought Montreal was a much stronger team at the end of last season than earlier in the season and that by the Eastern Finals, Kelly didn't have alot of success against them. So I not sure he would any better than Dukes did against them.

And my comment was to say that perhaps psychologically it may have affected him heading into the game. Allegedly he blew up at her during a team breakfast prior to that game, after she went to John Murphy of all people.
The absence of QB Coach Mike Miller due to health reasons didn't help that day either.

I didn't know that about Daniel. Thanks.

They're going to need someone to play Mauger's spot, which both Daniel and Priester have done previously. It will be interesting to see who they slide into that spot in Mauger's absence.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see them move Metchie there and play Blackburnat safety until Adeleke is ready to return.

Blackburn looks like a player for sure.
