I've made no secret of how I've felt about a lot of things, including but not limited to the Kelly situation. You are of course entitled to think whatever you want about me and my opinions, although I'd love to see evidence that I "treat him like a criminal." But surely you are not oblivious to the reality that, regardless of one's opinions about Kelly or any other member of the org, this season appears on the verge of becoming a lost cause. The chances of winning the Grey Cup from third place are about one in 55 if we go by recent history, and the chances of getting to second place and a home playoff game with a five-point deficit and six games left are probably not much higher.AngeloV wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2024 3:14 pmpaulwoods13 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2024 2:50 pm Like Kelly, hate him. Like Dinwiddie, hate him. Like the defensive schemes, hate them. None of those feelings change the fact that this team is in a hole it's extremely unlikely to get out of this season. Five points behind Ottawa with six games left, and facing another short week with a long road trip and a late start against a B.C. team that seems to have regained its mojo, mean it will take a miracle to get up to second place. Having already lost the season series with Hamilton, Argos could still be challenged for third although that's unlikely. And with Edmonton winning four of its past five games, the possibility of another western crossover is back in play. Imagine going into Edmonton for the season's final game, winner gets in and loser goes home. It could happen.
I can’t take anything you say about the Argos seriously. You drew your line in the sand when the Kelly accusations were there whether you want to acknowledge it or not. You treat him like a criminal, and that can’t be further from the truth.
You have not had any positive comments about the team since. It’s your right to do so. But a part of me can’t help but think you want them to lose so they don’t bring Kelly back. Sorry Paul, but that’s too rich for me.
For the record, I do not want the Argos to lose, regardless of how I feel about some individuals. And I hate the fact that this year is slipping away, especially on the heels of a 16-2 season that should have ended in success. But it is slipping away.

You were a great host as always.gilthethrill wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2024 7:45 amOn a side note, it was great to host argolio, AV, argo57 and boy yesterday. A special shout out to "Hurricane Hugo" for making an appearance and cheering up my award wining "Argo Room".
As for the game, Kelly struggling to adjust to the rain, poor tackling, inconsistent centre snaps, and receivers missing blocks were factors. We also uncharacteristically struggled defending their short passing game. But the biggest reasons for me were the things that win the vast majority of games: turnovers (two early pick 6s), protecting the passer (gave up six sacks), and pass rush (little generated).
On the plus side, Franklin had a really good game, top three receivers + Carey were good, and we shut down their running game except for one play.
I wouldn't have taken Kelly out, and I'd rather take my chances with this version of him over any version of Arbuckle or Dukes. Kelly is the present and the future, and has to get through this by playing.

Ha, ha; If Rourke was playing for the Argos you'd be calling him the greatest QB in the history of the game and defending his every move.
Your homer everything I like/think about the Argos is gospel truth routine is very annoying. Kelly $ucked big-time yesterday and so did Dinwiddie for directing a moron level offence.

And if Rourke was American you would be agreeing with me, or at the very least calling him mediocre and overrated.OV Argo wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2024 7:02 pm

I too would like to thank you for your ever tremendous hospitality. If we were drinking we could have used the old Argos faithful group’s saying of win or lose, we drink the booze….can’t think of a good one that goes with eating ribs though…but they were great.gilthethrill wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2024 7:45 am

Who would have thought the hi-light of the day would be a local 1995 wrestling match from Hamilton between Hurricane Hugo and Lone Wolf?
Re: Game Thread: Toronto Argonauts @ Ottawa Redblacks
The Argo line play on both sides of the line was dreadful. If that can't be corrected, this season is going down the drain.
Re: Game Thread: Toronto Argonauts @ Ottawa Redblacks
The D-line with the likes of Orimolade, Ceresna and Robbie Smith should be doing way better; last year's group featured way more rotation seems to me, and maybe they had more good depth in the rotation; Oakman and Knight let go for what reason? And a high draft pick like Hergott - a top pass rusher in college ball - has been given basically zero shot to see if he could help; sign a re-tread like Baron though? Again - have to think the loss of DC Mace might be pretty impactful to the D-line and overall defence.
