Carey is a FA next month. I don't believe the Argos will bring him back.shatto wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2025 4:32 pm With Carey, Brown, McMahon and good looking rookie, Williams, there just doesn't seem to be a place for a Canadian RB. But for only a 5th rounder in 2026 does seem to be a bit of a give away. Carter comes highly recommended and size wise he seems a good fit for our game. If he does sign and ends up having a great rookie season we will probably see him leave for the NFL anyway, with our ridiculous rules. OK, I'll try not to be bitter but it does irk me that we loose our rookies after one year. Ben Grant give a very good outline of why the move makes some sense.

That was what I took away from Pinball's media availability yesterday.AngeloV wrote: ↑Wed Jan 15, 2025 12:22 amCarey is a FA next month. Disappointed we did not sign fan Favorite and local kid ... Dan ADEBOBOYE. This is a tough loss for ARGO fans. His family is awesome....Thought he played well especially at the end of last season. I think this is a very good pick up for Ottawa... really sad to see Dan ( and his family ) no longer in Double Blue.

It's always tough to see fan favorites leave, however, with Dan it isn't the first time it has happened and it won't be the last.
This front office (with Pinball at the helm) has a pretty good track record right now when it comes to on-field stuff.

I think by releasing a player, it allows him to take longer to find a team to sign with. It no longer has to be during that negotiating window. He may have a team that likes him, but can't offer him a signing bonus until a time after the window. Elks did the same with Jake Julien today.paulwoods13 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2025 8:57 am As far as I know, any CFL player can take advantage of the window at any point of their contract. Terell Ford went to camp with the Packers after his rookie season, even though all NATs are required to sign three-year contracts. I see no reason why the Argos would have to do anything to enable Holley to sign in the NFL. (Regardless, he is going to sign in the NFL, and the reasons for this contract change will no doubt remain a mystery.)

Reading the official CFL Transactions is sometimes interesting and sometimes also confusing. Today the list had DaVaris Daniels both Deleted from Active Roster and also Added to Active Roster. Any guesses what that is all about?

Shatto I am fairly certain that means the player has signed a contract extension. Fairly certain....
Re: 2024-2025 Offseason Transactions Page
All I can guess is a possible contract restructure.
Re: 2024-2025 Offseason Transactions Page
I concur that it is likely a contract restructure.

Possible, but if that is the intention, wouldn't it make more sense to do the release closer to the end of the signing window? Why do it in mid-Jan when they have until sometime in Feb to sign with any team?AngeloV wrote: ↑Wed Jan 15, 2025 7:37 pm
