No real run nning game support doesn't quite do it justice. Eight RB carries for seven yards.
And three or four of those came on the 2nd last offensive play of the game. I think you answered your own question, Paul, as to why the Argos threw on the next play instead of running. It would have been a 58 yard FG attempt from where they were on the field.
Makeable IMO.
Possibly, but it would have been his career-best. He missed a rare one from 52 earlier. I think you try to get it to 50 or less.

Even a 2 yard gain instead of a pick makes it even moreso makeable. Dumb / sad

What if they lose a yard or two as they often did tonight?

So what - strong leg FG kickers make 60 yard kicks often now; i guess you liked the dumb pick better ?

This is a very disappointing loss given how well the Argo defence played and how Doege played mistake free football until the interception at the end ( I would have liked to see the replay on the possible interference on Polk though).
For those who want to complain about Doege’s performance, consider that it was first start and that he is the number three QB. How many number three QB’s would do as well in their initial starts with their teams?

I thought Doege was fine. MBT eventually hit some longer passes but otherwise QB play was pretty even and maybe Doege was even slightly better.

This season is like one of those nightmares where you are under water and no matter how hard you try, you just can't reach the surface.

I feel like the table got turned on the Argos. Instead of stealing a win they had one taken away. Good job by the front 7, I thought Lanier was just tremendous and Dozier was everywhere, however MBT was able to make a few big throws down field. I hate harping in the refs, but even if Polk would have gotten that PI call on Doege's Int, that doesn't resolve the Major Foul that the Argo Olineman took when he dove on the Montreal DB when the play was over. Earlier in the 4th, Mital was gifted with an additional 1 at least on a bad spot.
Not comfortable finishing with an 8-10 to get into the playoffs, winning out seems to be the only way. I would think Doege gets at least 1 more start in BC next week, hopefully Arbuckle only misses 2 games.

Almost did it again. Doege managed the game. He did not have much more than 100 yds passing close to the 4th Quarter. Defence played out of their minds for the most part and they stepped up. This team believes in themselves. Unfortunately they will need more than game management to win out from here. Without Kelly or Arbuckle they are not going to beat BC, Hamilton, Calgary and Saskatchewan. With one or both I think they can.
Winnipeg will be the crossover if there is one. BC may finish 2nd.

It’s a shame that you need a time out in order to challenge. I’ve said for quite a while now that shouldn’t be the case because with only 2 time outs, it is difficult to keep one in your pocket at the end of the game. To me, the league would be better off giving a 10 yard delay of game penalty for a lost challenge. Especially since you only get 1 lost challenge max per game.
Doege was fine. Played a really safe game in which they would need good performances on D and ST’d which they got. I have no issues throwing the ball on that last play. Since when do teams set up for a 58 yard FG instead of trying to get another 10 yards? Like Ravi said, what if you lose a couple of yards as they did quite often on the run? It was the right decision, taken away by a missed call. But Doege did all and more than you can expect a guy making his first start to do. Especially against a D that can confuse the best of QB’s.
