Wow, I thought he'd at least get a preseason game or two. Love to have him back, and I'd say chances are good because NFL teams aren't adding guys at this point. Getting him back would create a roster issue -- we wouldn't sit Daniels or Coxie, obviously, so an INT would have to be removed elsewhere, and a NAT receiver would see less playing time. But that would be a nice problem to have.

D. Daniels has had a good CFL career and is mostly a solid receiver, but is not much of a fast deep threat and has drops issues at times; I'd replace him with Polk as the much better deep threat and big play kind of receiver, especially if it becomes Kelly chucking the passes.

I agree with you.

I don't know what the "experts" think, but my observation is that Kelly was much better at leading receivers who were moving versus Arbuckle who is more likely to throw at or even slightly behind receivers (the interception to Ungerer being a good example).

It doesn't take an expert opinion to acknowledge that Kelly did a lot of things better than Arbuckle. However, Kelly isn't active and there's no way of knowing if or when he ever will be, so all we can do is hope Arbuckle is adequate and the rest of the team -- I'm looking at you, special teams and o-line -- is also adequate.

Maybe they can trade him for Julien-Grant. He never drops the ball.

As much as I like the little things that Daniels makes such as leadership, key catches and blocking, if Polk comes back, he must replace Daniels instead of the Canadian receivers. The team are at the point where they will need to find an import offensive tackle to replace Hunter. Bossé is simply too inexperienced at this point to count on him in the short term.

This is the nub of the problem. I don't expect any help is on the horizon at OT anytime soon, since the main NFL cuts are almost a month away. Neither Bosse nor Moore is ready for prime time, yet we are effectively stuck with both at this point. The only other OT in the building, Ergle, reportedly played terribly in the one game he played. This coming game would be Giffen's sixth on the six-game so maybe he will return, but he would have been eligible to practice last week, and presumably didn't (since he didn't show up on the injury report).

It looks like Luiji Vilain is also available as he was cut by the Cowboys last week.

There might be a fine OT talent or 3 available from NFL cuts but assuming they can come in and be handed a starting CFL job and be able to do it well is real iffy thinking IMO. That type of CFL deep thinking would have assumed Moore & Ergle were easy answers and the Argos were set at OT.

I'd love to hear from somebody on the Argos coaching staff to comment on the state of the O-line moving forward.

Superstars Kenny Lawler & Gino Lewis drop way more passes than Daniels ever has, but they are still considered these great receivers by some CFL experts.

Kevin Mital - guy with the best catch to target ratio in the league - dropped a pass right in his hands last game; quick - cut him, as it must be a glaring example of Canadian talent being not good enough ... to you and your usual suspects anyways.

Special teams alone have probably cost the Argos two games. They were 4-4 at this time last year but had much better special teams. Arbuckle has done as much as you can ask for of a backup QB, in my opinion, especially playing behind a diminished o-line.

It's clear that fixing special teams and the o-line are the priorities for this team. I suspect that the former will be a bit easier to fix than the latter at this point.
