Only 12,676 in attendance at yesterday's Argos game?

I know that BC is traditionally the worst draw, but still disappointing if you ask me.

Disappointing but not surprising. Apart from the usually expected factors (Sunday night game, Lions a lousy road draw), the Argos did virtually no marketing all off-season and were under fire for much of it. Kelly's transgressions really put a crimp in the promotion plan, given that he is being paid a lot of "marketing money" but basically had to go underground.

On par for last season's game against BC (though that was on a Monday) and a game vs Ottawa (which was a Sunday).
It'd be nice to get a home opener vs Hamilton or Montreal every year.

I have been highly critical of Argo ownership/management not having a business plan for this team since they took over in 2016. How attendance has been rising at a snails pace these 9 years, the last 3 with first place contenders.
I'm still pissed that Clemons is not President and that a properly run team may have been better able to prevent and navigate what happened this past off season.
Having said all of that I will give them a pass on last night's attendance. Without Kelly, huge unknown for the offence. Offence sells tickets and probably kept real Argo fans away for game one. Kelly again was paid to also be face of franchise and team likely had him to be featured in off season marketing and promotion.
Now a good President would still find a way and not just do nothing, but the Argos do not have a good President. They have an absentee one who has no interest or passion in running this football team. BC Lions have the Argos holding their beer 3 years running now in how to turn your fanbase around when you care to do so.
I just have such low expectations from Manning, that he can't let me down anymore.

Hopefully this Argo team plays well and continues to develop their own identity which resonates with the fans that returned and showed interest late last season.

not the best PR offseason, and sunday 7pm start… it is what it is. lets see the marketing team get to work and maybe some nice promos and hopefully we can build it up. seeing the amount of flag/tackle teams they had there was a good start

As many have commented, this was a hugely entertaining game, and even though the crowd was small, it was loud and boisterous. The victory should help generate at least "some" interest in casual fans. The worst thing is the team now has a bye week and loses the chance to build some momentum.

At least when they return from the bye they are at home. Maybe it's just me, and correct me if I am wrong, but it seems like in the past the Argos have gone long stretches away from Toronto?

We have 3 home games in June, I think there are stretches in the fall where Argos are away from Toronto for awhile.

Ideally, you would like to never have more than consecutive 2 home or 2 road games. bit I have come to accept the wacky schedule the Argos have to put up with on a yearly basis. With the bye week, the Argos don't go on the road until week 5 this season. They have 1 month between home games after they host Montreal on the 28th.
