Metchie and Smith

Dunk is reporting both are off to Edm. That's a huge loss; there is no NAT d-lineman on the roster who is ready to replace Smith as a starter, and Metchie being replaced likely hinges on re-signing Adeleke. Blackburn has promise but it would be asking a lot to have him start in Year 2.
Looking more and more likely that we will go with four NAT o-linemen. Add two receivers and we will need just one NAT starter on defence (presumably Judge/Varga).

Brinkman, too. Ceresna's price just went up.

Wowzers - bogus ! (didn't see the Metchie news though on 3 Down)
IF this is true, that would be 5 quality Canadian starters (J-Grant, Ty Ford, Beard, R. Smith & Metchie) signed by the EE in short order - and that is very impressive IMO for a team in need of a re-build and to start winning. I'm guessing new HC Kilam is not going to be a subscriber to the 7 only need apply GOB schtick there ?
IF Metchie is gone, it's IMO time to use the top draft pick on one of the top safety prospects (like Western's Jackson Findlay, all-star safety resume and reported sub 4.4 speed; or Dinos President's Trophy winner Nate Beauchemin) - a guy who could push Blackburn for the starting job right away. And then follow up with drafting the best D-lineman available (either a DT or DE), and hope that guy can play D-line reps right away.
Kinda disappointing to see all the fleeing by Argo players from the best team in the league for 3 years now. Total up the GC & play-off bonus money Argo players have earned the past 3 years. Guess that's just the way now with FAs and their desire for the biggest pay-day or prestige maybe in their minds ? ... But something is just off there IMO.

Hard to lose Metchie, he was another that I hoped was a must sign!

Brinkman AND Ceresna both gone to the EE. With Robbie, that makes 3/4s of a very good Argo D-line scooped away.
Still don't see a report on Metchie leaving though.

Just like I wasn’t worried when we lost big name players last year, I am not worried about these departures. Like him or not, John Murphy has great contacts and brings in great replacements that nobody knows every year.

The team looks woefully weak at DT. Of the 5 who could play DT, 3 are rookies, one vet (Baron) only played 5 games and made 3 tackles ( he was basically a stop gap player) and one second year player J Williams, who played 9 games as a rotational player. Williams looks like he had potential when he played last year but he will have to radically up his game if he is to be a starter. Carter comes well recommended but as a rookie it may be a bit much to ask him to be the new Ceresner. Oakman will probably be available but the team released him last year, obviously thinking he wasn't what the team wanted.
The other problem, is the team has lost two starting Canadians on defense. This may make it necessary for the team to start 5 Canadians on the OL, unless a suitable Canadian replacement can be found for FS.

Even if there is no NAT on the d-line or in the secondary, the team can manage with four on the o-line. Two receivers plus Judge/Varga gets to seven.

Still see no mention of Metchie jumping ship over at 3 Down ?
OMG - not a "ratio problem"; so hard to find the 7 only who need apply.

Nothing becomes official for another couple weeks. We have seen in the past these kinds of "agreed to terms" deals fall through.
