He now cannot practise with the team until the week before Labour Day, which will be the sixth game.

I didn't realize he was put on the six game prior to yesterday. So the next five games are:

Fri Aug 1 TOR @ WPG
Sat Aug 9 OTT @ TOR
Fri Aug 15 TOR @ EDM
Sat Aug 23 BC @ TOR
Mon Sept 1 TOR @ HAM

Other than the house of horrors Labour Day can be, that's not a taxing schedule. Then there's a bye-week followed by home games vs Edmonton and Montreal. If he does the full six games, I get the logic in coming back for Edmonton to get ready for Montreal.

That’s only if he stays on the list. The minimum amount of games you have to sit is 2, so theoretically that can pull him off after next week’s game.
Not saying I expect it, but I really think the reason they put him on the list is to not have to explain his status every week.
Correct. From the way Dinwiddie has been talking about the subject, I don't expect Kelly to sit out all six games. I suspect he will get more time rehabbing with the personal trainer in Buffalo whom they say he has made a lot of progress with.

The team proved they can beat Winnipeg as they are. Let Chad focus on healing up in the short term and re-evaluate his status for next week.

I'm having a hard time being optimistic that he'll be back soon, and this is all just a ploy to stop having to address his status. They said before the season that he might return for week 1. They said early in the season that he was getting close to returning. Then he started going to Buffalo to work with his own person there, and Dinwiddie said (last week) that it might be either day to day or week to week. Then he goes on the six immediately before a game, presumably in order to get "credit" for that game being applied against salary savings. I'm not a betting person, but if I was, I'd bet against him coming off the six-game early. And I might bet against him playing at all this year. There's just too much weirdness around this for it to be as simple as "we need to stop talking about this, so let's six-game him."

If he stays on the six-game list it will save a fair amount of salary cap. Could this be important in signing some new or returning players, as the NFL usually starts releasing players early to mid August?

If MLSE allows the Argos to spend the "savings," the money could come in handy, especially if guys like Jared Wayne or Luigi Vilain come available. I think Holley and Polk, if they are cut down south and come back, might be forced under the CBA to play out the second year of their entry-level contracts before cashing in. I think most NFL cuts tend to happen in late August these days.

At this point I’ll believe it when I see it in regards to Kelly’s return to the lineup.

This was important enough to have its own thread.

RD on Overdrive yesterday did not shed much more light on Chad's status. Other than we won't see him for the next 6 games. Is it Chad who is hesitant? Or is it Dinwiddie? Second opinions? More questions than answers. If he doesn't wsnt any more Chad questions he didnt do himself any favors. At least they will have $200K to "spend" on either returning players from NFL or others.

Like Paul, I don't think the Argos would use any cap savings from players on the 6 game this year. Also, I am not so sure they would get 200k in any event. How much of Kelly's contract falls under the "marketing" banner. My guess is that portion would not factored into cap space.
