Projected Final Standings and Playoff Seeding

Been thinking about this since 3 am. Have to put it out there.

WEST
1. SASKATCHEWAN; 12-6
2. BC; 10-8
3. WINNIPEG; 9-9
4. EDMONTON; 8-10
5. CALGARY; 8-10

EAST
1. HAMILTON; 11-7
2. MONTREAL; 11-7
3. TORONTO; 8-10
4. OTTAWA; 4-14

Toronto, of course, needs to win out. But can still do this if healthy. Getting Kelly, Coxie, Daniels back would be helpful. But Hamiton, Calgary snd Saskatchewan can all be had IMO. None of them are better than Toronto to any large degree.

Assumptions;
Calgary loses out
Edmonton goes 2-1
BC goes 2-1
Winnipeg goes 1-2
Ottawa loses out
Saskatchewan goes 2-2
Montreal goes 3-0
Hamilton goes 2-1

I commend your optimism. Now try and get some much needed sleep.

I'm working on no sleep until the Argos qualify for the playoffs. Death is a distinct possibility.

The longest anyone has gone without sleep is just over 11 days, so you won't make it awake to the final games of the season to see what the final standings end up being.

I haven't seen any reports yet on what Lanier's injury is. If he can't play the rest of the season the Argos really don't have anyone to replace him and the defence will be worse, a defence that has given up 465 points over the course of the season, which is way more than any other team.

The way Lanier was helped off the field...I would think UFL All Star Joe Wallace, who has been on the PR for a month will get to audition. The CFL is littered with former XFL/UFL, whatever it's called, D Linemen who have carved nice careers in Canada.

YUP, way more. Fundamental rule of defense in football is a Zone Defence only works if you HAVE A PASS RUSH, and can hurry the opposing QB.
As the Argos pass rush is very weak, and they insist on playing Zone so much, result is predictably you allow 30++ points against per game.
IF your offence can score 35+ points, you can still win, but only IF.

Predictions look good, except Calgary goes 9 and 9, Argos 7 and 11 8-)

According to today's injury report, Lanier has an ankle injury. It seems to me that an ankle injury is better than a knee injury but I still don't expect to see him for the rest of the season.

Injury report looks ominous. Arbuckle limited. I think they need to start Doege rather than risk Arbuckle doing further damage to his calf. Also, if he is not much stronger than he was against BC, I don't think the same game plan would be as effective this week. I'm sure I am not the only one that noticed he had nothing on his deeper throws.

One thing that is painfully apparent now is that we won't be seeing Chad Kelly this year.

I really thought he would play this season. By all accounts last off season his rehab was on or ahead of schedule. Talk in first half of season was he was close. He posts about his comeback in early September. I hope at the end of the year some light can be shed on his condition.
