Grey Cup Curse?

In the 18 game season era, the defending Grey Cup Champions have missed the playoffs the following season a total of 5 times. Unfortunately the Argos have done this 3 times now, in 1992, 2018, and this year. Furthermore, since the CFL was formed, this has happened a total of 11 times, with the Argos still having the most misses (3). The only other team with multiple misses is Calgary, in 1972 & 2002. Even with all the Grey Cups we've won over the last 40 + years, it seems as though we've had to pay a price for that success. To what do you attribute this to, if anything?

In 1992, the Argos got old very quickly, much like happened after a good run in 2008. They also thought they could get by with Rickey Foggie as the full-time starting QB in '92 and miscalculated.
The 2017 Grey Cup team caught lightning in a bottle and maybe wasn't the strongest team heading into 2018. They lost key pieces like Devier Posey and Victor Butler but the biggest loss was starting QB Ricky Ray in the home opener. James Franklin was an enormous disappointment.
The running theme seems to be losing your starting QB from your championship season.

I didn't hear about any curse in 2023, when coming off the Grey Cup victory, they went 16-2. No curse in 1997 when they went back to back...I could go on.
