Perhaps why Murphy walked the plank? It wouldn't stun me.

Must have been brewing for awhile. Tampering with a former Argo coach who just won a Grey Cup while probably fineable by the league etc is actually a proactive thing to do if you want to improve your team. More than likely the degradation of depth in players, coaches, football operations staff under his watch which ultimately contributed to a 5-13 season gave Pelley the opportunity to install a new, fresh look and vision with people who are used to having robust operations depth.
I have been critical of Pelley and am no fan of the scheduling he has imposed on his team. But I am wondering if the purse strings have been tightened at MLSE, and his budget is restricted that maybe he went to Rogers and said look I found a way to make a ton of cash on our football team by playing these road games in 2026 due to World Cup. But I get to keep that cash for the team any way I see fit....players, coaches, ops staff, marketing, whatever.
We will see what happens.

Sad to say I think you are dreaming. I can't see why Pelley would do that, or Rogers would agree to it.

Probably dreaming. But the money off of the gates of those 3 games is significant in CFL terms, ISN'T in MLSE terms. I'm just saying does anyone at Rogers and MLSE even bring the Argos up in conversation? As an Argo fan who cares (me) if I was in Pelleys position, this is how I might deal with Rogers and make the most of the situation.

Yes, it's chump change for MLSE. But Pelley didn't get hired to let a dime slip out of the corporation's grasp. I'd venture that Rogers' instructions re the Argos are essentially, squeeze as much juice as you can (if any) out of the lemon, but whatever you do, save save save.

Not when you're risking the loss of draft picks and/or fines.

I also wonder if the feedback that the Argos got during their HC search process re: Murphy was less than favorable.

I’m sure that is the case regarding feedback on Murphy, in a small league with so much player movement word travels fast.
