The Argos have just played 10 road games, are down to half a tank of gas, a pack of smokes, have 5 days to prepare for a team that's been off for over 2 weeks, whose coach hasn't won a game and beating the Argos is his Grey Cup.
They are being told by MLSE they have to practice at night this week while wearing sunglasses because ESPN 8 - The Ocho, are broadcasting it as their game of the week.

Re: Game Thread: Ottawa Redblacks at Toronto Argonauts
I believe this is a trap game.
Ottawa on paper is a weaker opponent. But as pointed out above, have had more than two weeks to prepare for this game, and their coach will really want to win it, not just because its against his old team, but also so he doesn't end the season with no wins. If Ottawa is going to win a game, this is it. And Jake Maier has had good games against the Argos when he was with Calgary.
The Argos cannot take this game for granted.

With a 6-6 win loss record no game should be considered a “trap” game.Unplayable wrote: ↑Tue Sep 08, 2026 12:28 pm I believe this is a trap game.

Agreed. This is professional football. There should be no such thing as a trap game.ARGO57 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 08, 2026 7:16 pmWith a 6-6 win loss record no game should be considered a “trap” game.Unplayable wrote: ↑Tue Sep 08, 2026 12:28 pm I believe this is a trap game.

No excuses, treat all opponents with respect (except Hamilton) and get the job done.ArgoRavi wrote: ↑Tue Sep 08, 2026 7:35 pmAgreed. This is professional football. Put some distance between themselves and Hamilton to secure a home playoff date.

Seeing as the last guy got fired for not blitzing enough even though he contended they did not have the personnel to do so, might lead some to expect a lot of pressure and hot route opportunities for the Argos. Ottawa secondary will try to bait Kelly into throwing interceptions. Not sure they have anyone to cover Coxie.

Ottawa desperately needs a win and need to be taken seriously.

Ottawa continues to make sweeping personnel changes. High priced DE Bakanado who was All World with Saskatchewan last year has been cut. Several raw rookies have been added to the Ottawa Defense in preparation for Saturdays game. Jake "Empty Stats" Maier continues to drive this rudderless operation behind a poor Oline. Argos appeared to come out of "Toothless Town" healthy....even with the schedule makers taking it to the Argos yet again with a short week & Ottawa coming off a bye, the Argos will win by a couple scores.
