Former B.C. Lions DL Woody Baron, an all-star last season, has signed with the Argos.

Argos sign Woody Baron

According to 3DN, Argos have singed Woody Baron.

Baron has had a good career in the league and if he can still play at the same level he did, might be a very good pick up.

Paul, I moved your post out of 2024 Transactions as I felt that Woody Baron is a significant enough of a signing to warrant its own thread.

Angelo, in doing so, it does make it appear that Paul started this specific thread because he posted in the other thread at 11:47 versus your 11:48.

As for this signing, hopefully he can still play at a high level. Perhaps they wanted an upgraded over Williams/Holley and not that it means that Ceresna's injury is long-term.

Also noticed that the Stamps have signed Argo draft pick DT Justin Sambu (cut at Argo TC).

Maybe the Argos felt need for more "veteran" presence at DT, but Oakman gave that? Let Knight get poached by the Ticats. I would have signed ex-Ticat DT Mo Diallo (cut by them and not signed elsewhere yet?) - bigger body DT and IMO was impressive, some, when he played in the Hammer.

It is worth keeping in mind that the Argos have been hit by injuries along the DL, in particular to Ceresna and Orimolade. I hope that this signing doesn't mean that their projected return isn't soon, although this affects Ceresna more than Orimolade. Maybe they just wanted an upgrade over Holley/Williams that could be justified by cap savings for players on the 6-game?

Diallo hasn't been nearly as good as you continue to say he was. In 28 career games he has 17 tackles and 2 sacks. But I give him credit for one of the funniest roughing penalties I have ever seen in my life, doing the "Air Kamala" on a Bombers player long after the play was over last year.

I think with the proper handler, perhaps Kimchee, I think Diallo could become a decent CFL DT.

You're entitled to your opinion of course; never said Diallo was some superstar in waiting. Quoting player stats to make it sound like a guy who didn't play close to full-time reps had weak production is pretty amusing/cute though; reminds of the usual suspect Rider fans who like to cut down certain players: "look, that receiver has only 2 catches in his career - pffft" - when the receiver was mostly a back-up with only 2 targets in his career - some of them thought Justin McInnis was a bum when with the Riders.

And Woody Baron is nowhere near as good as some seem to think IMO; there's a reason he got let go by the Als & BC; but he has the right passport to more CFL chances at playing time, for a team in need of a "veteran"

8 sacks as a DT is impressive, and has nothing to do with his passport. You know I defend Canadian players a lot, and I let Ambrosie know about it on twitter all the time how I hate the way he is trying to get rid of them by lowering the quota. But as you do, I watch every CFL game either live our on PVR, and I just don't think Diallo being unemployed has anything to do with his passport. He's just not better than what most teams have on their rosters right now.

The King Kong Bundy splash, I swear he was asking Valessi for a 5 count.
