Re: Edmonton Elks
Bede has struggled this year, including last week, but it would appear that part of the reason for this benching is his U.S. passport. For the first time all season, the Elks are dressing three American RBs, two of whom are classified as "designated Americans" (i.e. not starting on offence or defence). Bede is always a DA but now they are using their global spot for the PK position.

Someone needs to go a review of all ex-Argos playing this season. Are they thriving in their new environment? Leake looks like he is.
Re: Edmonton Elks
Love to see the EE go to a power run game using all 3 RBs; we shall see though; or if Tre Ford gets a shot if MBT struggles.paulwoods13 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 01, 2024 7:19 pm Bede has struggled this year, including last week, but it would appear that part of the reason for this benching is his U.S. passport. Bede has always been maddingly inconsistent with his FG kicking - scapegoat du jour there now; the guy replacing him was not good last year and doubtful can kick 50 + yarders though.

Several ex-Argo O-linemen starting for various teams: Kolankowski has been the Bummers C for some time; top pick Shane Richards now playing for the EE; Eric Starczala has replaced benched former Ottawa top draft pick Hogan-Saindon at C there.
Leake is a great returner but also showing explosive stuff as a RB; I'd still take J. Grant over him as the main Argo returner - even more explosive and dangerous.
Neither of Hendrix or Barlow have looked like much on the wimpy Ticats D, IMO. Oakman still doing some stuff for the EE D-line.

Re: Edmonton Elks
MBT had 486 yards passing. Had some good post game comments. Would be nice if he and some of the Edmonton ARGO's could make / catch the final playoff spot out west. Really happy for him ... hope people are starting to see he really is a good QB and always is a class act off the field.
I guess it was only Calgary but will be interesting to see how the Edmonton ARGO's finish up.

He was great. There is no denying it. I still thing they would be risking losing Ford next year if he doesn’t go back to starter when fully healthy.ARGOFanIan wrote: ↑Tue Sep 03, 2024 7:13 pm MBT had 486 yards passing. Re: Edmonton Elks
I still think cutting Oakman was a mistake. Looks like Elks gave him snaps at DE and provided pressure. Just a big body. Missed those knockdowns.
Re: Edmonton Elks
No argument here. I would have preferred him to Brinkman to be honest, but I felt that way last year too. Brinkman is great against the run, but Oakman can make a bigger difference when he is on.ArgoGabe22 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 04, 2024 10:59 am I still think cutting Oakman was a mistake. That move was indeed a head scratcher.ArgoGabe22 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 04, 2024 10:59 am I still think cutting Oakman was a mistake. Looks like Elks gave him snaps at DE and provided pressure. Just a big body. Missed those knockdowns.
