The two lines will be our key, D and O.
The two lines will be our key, D and O.
When I look at the depth chart .... looks like the O will be a bit different....
Are we expecting to get better blocking with Steeles, Coombs and Woodson at RB. ? Interesting change.
It's also good to see Adjei behind Durie.
Zander isn't around so perhaps less TE looks.... although we still have Dupuis and Gillanders.
The D has been mentioned ..... but one question (sorry if its very basic) .... someone mentioned that Molden would be our SAM ..... how do you know its not the WIL position?
I definitely like a safety that scares receivers a bit; hopefully Gabriel can become such a guy. I think there's a good chance that he'll play his position well, since he seems pretty talented and has some experience now, but I'm not sure that he's ready to coordinate our raw secondary. He's one of the youngest guys on the team, and most of the rest of the guys are older ex-NFLers with a few weeks of CFL exposure. We'll see!
I don't know if this is consistent around the league (or world), but on our depth charts the LBs are listed in order of SAM / MIKE / WIL. That's never mentioned anywhere, by the way. Like a lot of CFL rules and conventions, one has to "figure it out".
Glad to be going to this game, especially since I couldn't watch last week's game live (PVR'd it). Not looking forward to seeing a sea of green in the stands, but at least they are passionate and should help boost the attendance figures.
I hope it's a nice day for the home opener and that those of you able to attend have a great time. I'll be watching on ESPN2!
I'm expecting a much better performance out of our guys this week. I suspect that some of last week's defensive problems came from not taking Winnipeg seriously enough, and that our new no-huddle offense just needed a bit more time in the oven. The long week of practice at home should have helped.
Prediction: Argos 29, Riders 24.
Any idea when tennis is over on TSN so people can watch the Argos?
Just got home from work. Liking what I am seeing so far.
God Gawd, did the Argo defence think this game was over.
I'm not sure the time was right for a trick play. The Argos need to get some momentum back.
The bad news for today: 17700 in attendence. That really sucks.
Bradwells touchdown is just what the Argos needed. Shame about the missed two pointer
A big big win by the Argos. Was a bit worried by those two quick Rider TD's, but a pretty solid effort on both sides of the ball I thought.
Was stuck @ school and missed the game which I'm deeply regretting right now.
TORONTO ARGONAUTS FOOTBALL CLUB
GREY CUP CHAMPIONS: 1914, 1921, 1933, 1937, 1938, 1945, 1946, 1947, 1950, 1952, 1983, 1991, 1996, 1997, 2004, 2012, 2017, 2022
I was surprised that both our lines really improved from last week, especially on the defence. A lot of new players just doesn't excite me, I had zero expectations. I hate see jobs lost to injury but I have zero problem if Gabriel and Molden take over from Black and Robinson. I also haven't noticed a lot of Underwood or Gibson, whom I also wasn't happy with vs Winnipeg.
I liked that we ran the more much more efficiently and even Ray gained a few on the ground. Now we must wait to see what Emry's and Durie's status will be.
Any news on attendance? It's clear that the Argos have fans and strong TV ratings and most aren't willing to fight traffic.
Argos Season Ticket Holder 2016-2021.
2.5 million people and that's what we get out to a game. If the attendance is around the same next week please explain how this team should not be relocated out of Toronto proper and moved to north of the 401.
No, the Whitecaps don't outdraw the Lions yet but give it a couple more years and they might. The Lions did have as many as 24k season ticket holders not long before Bob Ackles died but they are back at 15k now in a Grey Cup-hosting year. Not only does Braley need to sell the Argos but I would suggest that he is holding back the Lions from progress as well.
I saw a picture on Twitter last night in which Foley, Durie and Matt Black were having dinner after the game. Foley appeared to be feeding Durie but perhaps they were just joking around.
I would love to see Black play corner with Gabriel starting at free safety. While you wouldn't mind seeing Tonye-Tonye or Yurichuk start at MLB, I suspect that it is more likely that rookie Miles would start given that he was the one who replaced Emry yesterday. If Emry can't play and Jones ends up replacing him, the National starters would be Van Zeyl, Keeping, Holmes, Watt, Gabriel/Black, Laing and Durie/Coombs so the Argos should be okay.
Cameron Dukes + Dan Adeboboye + Kevin Mital + David Ungerer + Damonte Coxie + DaVaris Daniels + Dejon Brissett = Unstoppable Force
