So because I fell asleep on the Depth Charts and then bungled Johnny Augustine right out of my lineup at game time, I ended up with Anthony Coombs and Ricky Collins who got me a grand total of 13.3 Fantasy points. The Johnny Augustine and Shaquille Evans picks I would have had in place of those would have yielded 34.6 points. My Three Stooges Act therefore cost me 21.3 points.

Worse yet every single game went against my teams.

I've been almost too beaten down since Monday to make this week's Fantasy picks.

Well I've made it to #17 overall with four weeks to go. I've also clawed my way to the top of the very large 301 participant Argo Fans league and the 209 participant TSN 1050 Toronto league.

I'm confident of nothing though from here on to the end of the season. Every week I'm racked with doubts.

Well there's one last week to attempt to claw my way from #19 into the top ten. I've therefore held my nose and made the picks I had to make.

A real tough week with many starters resting and game time decisions. I have no idea who to pick at QB. Had Fajardo, but doesn’t look like he will play. Bo Levi is unanswered if he’s playing or not. Might have to go with Prukop.

Bo Levi should be playing as a loss in BC would drop the Stamps to 3rd place.

So three sub-par weeks in a row at the end of the season dropped me down from #13 overall to #23 out of 16,488 participants. My late season slide also knocked me down to second or third in several major sub-leagues including Argo Fans where I finished at #2 out of 306 participants and TSN 1050 Toronto where I finished at #2 out of 211 participants. However I still managed to keep my grip on top spot in a number of large sub-leagues including these:

    2017 CFL Fantasy (39 participants)
    Argofans (29)
    Argos Rock (12)
    Chester's Cookies (6)
    Dick's Shadow (5)
    Eskimo Empire Podcast (70)
    Ol' Spaghetti Legs (6)
    Pinball Wizards (10)

    The Angry Birds (180)
    The Den (285)
    Ticat Fans (318 )
    TSN 1040 Vancouver (197)

I know I should be very pleased, but still I was within 43.4 points of a top five finish! Had I avoided blundering with a couple of picks in any of the final three weeks including last week I could have got it done! But my crystal ball wasn't good enough and I didn't get it done.

So I'm still racked with "would of, should of, could of" thoughts. Just goes to prove that a fellow is never satisfied. Some say that's a good thing but....

Nice I suppose. But why does the tune "Glory Days" by Springsteen seem appropriate?

Unlike Bruce though I'm not just looking back at my best since I'm still consistently at the top of my game. I'll be a contender again next year, wait and see!

You always seem to have a decent team. What’s the strategy? I always have fun playing, mostly just competing with the wife. It also keeps me current on CFL players around the league. The format has gone a little stale and I believe the reason less players this season. There should be more prizes too. Was there even a grand prize this year? Weekly prizes would be a great enticement to play more. It doesn’t even have to be money. CFL merchandise, tickets, etc, would satisfy me.

I'm playing this year -- not easy to pick after 1 1/2 years hiatus.
    TORONTO ARGONAUTS FOOTBALL CLUB

I start by asking myself which teams "should" do well given their opponents during the week and then I look for the best "values" with that in mind. I typically don't leave much of my salary cap on the table. Having several hundred $ leftover has me wondering what I've done wrong. But I don't try to overthink things as do many of the TSN analysts, e.g. whether a certain strong side receiver can exploit a specific weakness in the opposition's secondary. Come on. It's not nuclear physics. For me it's simply a combination of mild number crunching and educated guesses based on team records and recent play.

There's many a slip twixt cup and lip though!

Truth! That's what it's all about. And with only nine teams and four games per week to assess, it's not a particularly time taxing Fantasy game.

With that in mind I asked Sully to expand the positions to nine by adding an additional WR plus a kicker with a salary cap of $50,000 but he replied that kickers were too predictable and the game requires more of a random element!

Yes. An all expenses paid trip for two to the 2019 Grey Cup Game.

Here are links for two more CFL Fantasy Leagues that might be of interest to those in the Greater Toronto area and southwestern Ontario in general. First a League for those with Baltic ancestry:

    Balticboys

And one for either old time O.R.F.U. fans or those with some connection to London:

    London Lords

Interesting that there's been a determined promotional push for the Pick'Em game on the CFL site this year but relatively little for Fantasy. Back in 2017-18 TSN and CFL promoted Fantasy quite heavily but this year it's Pick'Em that's gotten the push.

    Question

Quite a few participants in Argonaut fan oriented Leagues were MIA in Week 1 including these:

    ArgoRon
    Jteampro
    NormW
    Wewantthecup

Whether that's due to the missed season or lack of promotion for CFL Fantasy I'm not sure.

I'm glad I removed Mitchell from my lineup just before game-time. I left Jorden in though, which didn't really pay off.

Points have really been at a premium this year. It took 100 points to have an excellent week in 2019; this year 85 will do.
