I would've liked to have re-signed at least one of Barlow, Oakman or Hendrix. I suppose Oakman remains a possibility.
Brinkman is under contract right?

GREY CUP CHAMPIONS: 1914, 1921, 1933, 1937, 1938, 1945, 1946, 1947, 1950, 1952, 1983, 1991, 1996, 1997, 2004, 2012, 2017, 2022
This is precisely correct. Since we learned about the restructured contract, the Argos have re-signed McManis, Jones, Brissett and Ciraco. (Also signed Hajrallahu and re-signed Cassar, Marion and Harelimana, but the main ones affected by his renegotiation were likely the first four.) All starters, assuming Brissett replaces Gittens. And there are still eight or so Argo free agents that haven't yet been accounted for.

I figure the life cycle the really succesfful imports had was 1st year developing and trying to get a starter role, 2nd year establishing themselves as a star. 3rd year eligible for free agency. Argos are paying the price for 3rd year players they developed well: Barlow, Hendrix, Peters, Leake, Oullette. These were unknown recruits two years ago this organization developed.
That flow will continue.
The team already has some very good players heading into second years and will be big names by end of next year: Mason Pierce, Tavarus McFadden, Maurice Carnell. Jared Brinkman.
There will also be an influx of good first year talent. Some impressive resumes coming up:
-to fill in for Pickett, I could see Marquis Waters (Texas Tech) or Latavius Brini (Arkansas) as candidates.
-to fill in for Peters : Chris Steele was a great CB at USC. Leonard Johnson a great CB at Duke.
Just for the record, both Brinkman and McFadden were with the team in 2022 and are heading into their third season. Carnell (who did not play last season due to injury) has been in the CFL since 2019 but saw almost no action before playing nine games for Toronto in 2022. Pierce is indeed heading into his second season.

I am just going to say what I believe here. If the Argos sign Ka'Deem Carey to replace Ouelette, I believe they will have upgraded. God love Ouelette and his popularity here, but I think Carey is a better back. Rumour hs it both the Argos and Lions reached out to Carey, and with the Lions signing Stanback, we might get a great back at a bargain price.
It's us vs the rest of the country
So delighted to hear this news, really wanted Coxie to return!!! Also I agree with others, it's true that we've lost some key players but Argo management has put together impressive teams for the last couple of seasons, so I have confidence in them and think we'll see another great Argo team this year!!
I am not doubting AJ's devotion to football, keeping fit, or the team he plays for. He's a special player and a great team guy. But I do suspect his decision to go to Sask had at least an element of brand-building to it. He'll sell a ton of personal merch to that rabid fanbase, far more than he could ever dream of in this market IMO.
Too bad he isn't going to get his old number, though.
