Wasn't a rant per se but he did post some odd things, whether they were lyrics to a song, who knows, but definitely odd.

I never saw that one -- I understand there may have been an odd post on Instagram, but I don't use that.

Much if not most of the crap is reactions to reasonable posts, and a lot of it comes from bot-type accounts whose name consists of a word followed by seven or eight numbers. It's relatively easy to ignore those.

Does the term “wrongful conviction” ring a bell? Bias can lead to behaviour that is blatantly obvious, or can lead to subtle behaviour that impacts conclusions to the advantage of the investigators. Did they start their investigations with the feeling that Kelly, as an Argo, is just a dirt bag who is guilty of everything claimed? For example, Kelly is American. The investigators could just ignore this fact and not bother to look into whether or not he was given instruction regarding the Ontario Civil Rights Code. Did they consult psychiatrists/psychologists to get an opinion as to whether or not Kelly suffers from a mental disorder such as erotomania that would be a mitigating circumstance to his reported actions? Did the people they interviewed have to sign affidavits agreeing that the information accredited to them in the report was actually the information they gave? Did they give information that does not appear in the report? And so on.


The court of law is much different than the court of public opinion.

The one lesson learned (also as Director) is never to make decisions until one has read the entire report and had lawyers give their opinion and answered any questions. So what do we, the average fan, know, not surmise but know.

A former team employee who can be considered a subordinate is suing Kelly, who could be considered to be in a superior position, for harassment. He denies the claim but texts/emails appear to support her claim. A report about the issue(s) was made by a firm on behalf of the league. The report collaborates the plaintiff's claim of persistent advances by Kelly, which she rejected. There was also a confrontation between the two parties in the team's breakfast room which appears to be a he said/she said issue but witnesses claim Kelly made derogatory and demeaning remarks to the female employee.
As a result of the report Kelly has been suspended for exhibition games and 9 league games as well as having to take counselling.

Much more may come out in time especially if the case goes to court. It does appear, based on the little we know, that Kelly did act in a very inappropriate manner Kelly's future with the team seems to be very uncertain at this time.

Now, can we please hear about the team's on field activities.

The damage has already been done. Let them ask the same questions over and over.

The right decision, albeit several days too late, this decision being made last week would have mitigated (but perhaps not eliminate) the PR fiasco that the team has gone through the last week.

It was the bare minimum that should have been done from the outset. Having him around the team when camp opens, even if they intend to let him serve his suspension and return to action, was only going to create a massive distraction and uproar. Unfortunately the uproar won't completely die down now, even if the distraction goes away on the field, at least until we are told what the longer-term plan is. This statement says "currently," mentions only training camp, and says "future updates will be provided as warranted." So the org may have bought itself approximately three weeks, until camp breaks, to address the longer-term plan.
