They didn’t run the backs all game. But up 16 at the half, with 3 good backs against a team that hasn’t stopped the run, you need to run. Seems to me that they tried to out smart them.
Oh, and MacKellar can’t pass block. This isn’t the AUS.

Agreed on all points. McKellar is the weak link on the o-line. If they're not going to play Giffen there then why not Rice? Of course, it would be great if Ciraco could return.
Adeboboye and McMahon got 0 carries.
Dukes is a capable backup QB nothing more.
The replay clearly showed no PI, at this point I’d rather live with the call on the field rather than have the Command Centre review the call and inexplicably still get it wrong, the Command Centre has blown several calls in CFL games this season which is hard to fathom when reviewing clear cut replays.ArgoRavi wrote: ↑Sun Aug 04, 2024 10:10 pm The TSN Turning Point was the questionable interference on Sopik late in the 3rd quarter. Regardless, you can’t score just 1 point in the 2nd half and expect to win. Not sure why the Argos got away from trying to run the ball in the 2nd half. This was a very frustrating game to lose.
So why are you blaming Dukes? - this was all on Dinwiddie / whoever is calling the plays; run the ball way more and they easily win this game. Dukes is already the better QB than Calgary's Maier with way less CFL experience, and precisely because he has way better mobility and is a run threat QB.Will wrote: ↑Mon Aug 05, 2024 1:04 amAdeboboye and McMahon got 0 carries.
2 weeks from Thursday this week is the 10th game. CFL needs to let Argos know about Kelly playing that game by then. This gives him 2 weeks to prepare and one week with team after bye week. If I was a receiver I would forgo this bye and get my timing down with Kelly.
That was my thought, back to QB. Never looked back to ball. Once call was made on the field, no way they were overturning it. Surprised he challenged.OV Argo wrote: ↑Mon Aug 05, 2024 10:21 amSo why are you blaming Dukes? - this was all on Dinwiddie / whoever is calling the plays; run the ball way more and they easily win this game. Agree that Argos should have featured run game. Especially in 2nd half with 17 point lead. Best oline against easier to run against Calgary defence. 3 good backs all offering different skillets. And because Dukes is essentially at this point a good backup QB. He is not a starter and I would not want to put the game on his shoulders.
Anyhow - this team needs some tweaks or changes on repeat obvious weak spots - MacKellar in pass pro; secondary guys who can't cover like Franklin; Coxie's weak hands - don't bother throwing it to him in traffic on clutch first down needed plays; another DT in the rotation (noticed Argo draft pick cast-off Justin Sambu had some reps in the Stamps D-line and had a sack; D. Knight allowed to be poached by the Ticats; but the Argos trot out mediocre W. Baron ?). Along with of course more diverse ground game with Adeboboye & McMahon mixed in plenty.
Hope they don't think of hiring that idiot LaPo as an offensive consultant - who was constantly babbling explaining and defending standard simpleton check-down CFL offence in his "commentator" duties; 2nd and 15 and he's calling for a dribble kick play ??? - did the goof not watch the EE/Riders game the night before that featured Ford throwing a 90 plus yard TD bomb, and Leake breaking TD runs of 50 and 60 plus yards ??? LaPo is likely on his way to being more annoying than that dullard Suitor to have to put up with on CFL telecasts, but that's a ways to go and hopefully they get somebody to replace both of them.
I don't want LaPolice coaching my team. He ran Ottawa into the ground with the most suspect and boring play calling and in game decisions and clock management. As a result I'm not interested in what he has to say. He's not a HOF coach. I'm surprised TSN wants him to be the coach on their broadcasts.
Maybe coach RD thinks the return of Kelly will be the team saviour ? - I'm not so sure, and this D is just not near as good as last year's version (though a full healthy unit with the likes of McManis, Brinkman and Adeleke would be improved).
I believe with Kelly the Argos can be an elite team. Receivers will start having games again. Run game opens up etc. Can't wait.
And sorry, that was blatant interference on Sopik - he doesn't turn to look for the ball and try to play it and runs into the receiver's back impeding his path to the ball - doesn't matter if the contact was supposedly "acccidental".
