Game Thread: The CAL-GARY Stampeders at The Toronto Argonauts. The Hoedown in Hogtown!

Post by Scooter McCray »

It looks like everyone continues to be on the Grow at practice.
Kelly, Shepley, Judge.
The Stampeders did the wise thing, they're staying in Southern Ontario for some summer lovin and a good old fashioned ass kicking by the Argos.
Their Hoedown in Hogtown is about to be rudely interrupted because the Argos are home at last, Lord Almighty Home at Last!

This Thursday August 6. Remember its All You Care to Eat Night. Adult Diapers at the Calgary bench.
Don't you dare miss it!

The Stamps offence is very good when VA is on his A game (zero picks); plus they might get Beggelton back soon to add to a very good receiver corps. Their D is kinda hit & miss it seems - I thought Slowik would have them playing better than last year with some continuity.

Argos might have to win a pass shoot-out, and they are capable of that. Still need to see some D play-making, plus young FG kicker must stay strong.

Is it the retro Argo jersey replica give-away night ? - tribute to the great John Candy of sorts

Difficult for me to make a post and it not turning into a rant about Keith Pelly and Rogers... will do my best.

Lookin forward to the game....Calgary playing well right now.... really enjoyed the game in Hamilton.

Something in the Water seemed to be the un official pre game watering hole... not including the tail gate.... I heard it has closed or is going to close.... any one suggest a potential alternate location ... or maybe its TBD.

Will be nice to have a home game finally.

Go ARGOS !!!!

I've always liked Local. It's a bit pricey but so is everywhere else in Liberty Village.

The food is proper and the service is very good, even when busy. The staff are not snobby and my friends and I have always been treated with respect. I've recommended the place to a few different people who were in Liberty Village for various reasons and all of them had nothing but good things to say about it.

something in the water's toronto location closed right after the World Cup, which is awkward for the fine Xs and Argos podcast that had long had them as a sponsor.

Vernon Adams Jr was really on the limp by the end of Saturday's game. It will be interesting to see what Calgary's injury report looks like today.

Speaking with my ticket rep this morning, heading into the long weekend they were at around 15,000 tickets sold for Home Opener. Not bad I suppose. Not great when they haven't played a home game in 10 months. That number IMO is purely based on existing fanbase and those we are bringing to the game because of ticket sale 1 month ago. That's it. Rogers seem to have no interest in letting Toronto know they own a football team.

But I'm sure the league would take it away with another BS roughing the passer as they did when Jamal Peters picked him off on Saturday.
League officiating is bordering on ridiculous this year on the ticky tack calls.

I, for one, do not blame our insect overlords for this. Ticket sales have been better with the same amount of advertising and no all you can eat program.

I have a theory as to why sales for this game are so low, but no one on here wants to read it again.

Don't get me wrong, I would have loved this game to be advertised heavier, but as I said already, they have sold more tickets with less advertising before.
