People pointed out Kelly's past as proof he is guilty of wrongdoing in this situation. Why is it so wrong now that the shoe is on the other foot?paulwoods13 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 17, 2024 3:14 pmSo if Ambrosie reinstated Kelly today, no strings attached, he'd be considered a good commissioner?argolio wrote: ↑Sat Aug 17, 2024 3:04 pmI believe they are very linked at this point.paulwoods13 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 17, 2024 1:26 pm Is this discussion about the Chad Kelly suspension, or about Randy Ambrosie's performance as commissioner? The two subjects are not inextricably linked IMO.

Re: Kelly
Hindsight being 20/20 the team should have just renewed the contract of the mediocre Strength Coach and told her to stay home.
Re: Kelly
Strings were already attached -- the harshest suspension in league history plus mandatory counselling. I doubt the majority of clubs like the idea of a commissioner adding 11th hour conditions at the end of a suspension.paulwoods13 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 17, 2024 3:14 pmSo if Ambrosie reinstated Kelly today, no strings attached, he'd be considered a good commissioner?argolio wrote: ↑Sat Aug 17, 2024 3:04 pmI believe they are very linked at this point.paulwoods13 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 17, 2024 1:26 pm Is this discussion about the Chad Kelly suspension, or about Randy Ambrosie's performance as commissioner? It required the insurgence of a veteran, front–line reporter (Naylor) to begin publicizing the process. And, still, Argonaut fans are in the dark… beyond the upcoming match against Saskatchewan. It is another terrible look for the CFL
If you wonder why Canada’s largest city has turned its back on the oldest professional franchise in the city, here’s another example. The CFL needs to be much–more transparent in situations that impact season–ticket holders.
Otherwise, there will be nothing left of the Double Blue.

Again, Ambrosie made clear months ago that further measures could be taken if he deemed it necessary. Now he is taking further measures. This is not an 11th-hour condition; it's following through on what he said was possible. If clubs don't like it, they can order him to do something else, or terminate his contract.argolio wrote: ↑Sat Aug 17, 2024 4:03 pmStrings were already attached -- the harshest suspension in league history plus mandatory counselling. Re: Kelly
Give me a break Paul. It was implied this would be reviewed at the conclusion of his mandatory classes. By all accounts he finished those, but my guess is his stooge Kristina C is in his ear again, so he adds another stipulation.paulwoods13 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 17, 2024 4:54 pmAgain, Ambrosie made clear months ago that further measures could be taken if he deemed it necessary. We already know your stance on him. Quit trying to justify this BS move by Ambrosie.

Re: Kelly
Are you suggesting that all of Manziel's "infractions" happened when he was under contract in the CFL? If not, then surely you can accept that Kelly also did things when he was not under CFL contract that might cause Ambrosie to want some future strictures on him, as he did on Manziel?

Strawperson argument. Don’t put words into other people’s mouths if you want to retain credibility.
Chris Edwards was suspended 3 games in 2021 (reduced from 6 on appeal) after going into the stands and exchanging punches with a fan. Are you going to claim that Kelly’s transgression (you obviously are willing to accept the CFL’s investigation findings without question) was worse that Edwards? And Edwards had another infraction in 2023, and all that happened was that he was fined. No suspension, no last chance agreement.

Re: Kelly
One of the big disappointments on this matter, is the continued delays on the CFL side. Correct me if I am wrong, didn't the league sit on this until 3 CFL female employees resign?
Then the league came down with a hammer. Way over the top for the allegations. I believe their wording on the final punish was "including, but not limited to." Nothing more than legal, weasel words.
They delayed the face-to-face meeting until 1 week prior to reinstatement. Why? They had the information that they thoroughly had to review.
During that review, they could have also communicated to the player, agent and/or Argos that part of a final resolution would be a final condition. Nope, introduced during a last minute face-to-face meeting, essentially moving the goal posts with brand new conditions.
The league's cavalier actions are clearly not in the best interests of the league, the team or the CFLPA. Total rubbish.
This mishandling continues to have a material effect on the league as the Argos continue to offer an inferior product. I for one am surprised that they aren't 0-9 at this point.
As any owner watching these multiple, you'd have to question who long you can put up with this commissioner? I'd can him tomorrow.
