2024 Transactions

Re: 2024 Transactions
Mason Pierce gets cut? - bit of a surprise IMO, considering lack of depth/experience in the current roster secondary. Thought this kid was really coming on last season as a DB (but under a different DC). Football is a tough, what have you done for me lately business at times.
Re: 2024 Transactions
Mason Pierce and Leonard Johnson released by the Argonauts.

I wonder if this is a prelude to an ex NFL player being signed??

It's odd someone like Pierce gets cut this late in the season...OV Argo wrote: ↑Sat Aug 31, 2024 4:37 pm Mason Pierce gets cut? - bit of a surprise IMO, considering lack of depth/experience in the current roster secondary. Re: 2024 Transactions
Gill, you may well be right. But George is presently on the active roster and Pierce and Johnson were on the practice roster. By releasing both Pierce and Johnson the team no longer has any DB on the practice roster. With all the DBs being released by NFL teams, it wouldn't be beyond the realm of possibilities that the team might want to add a DB to the practice roster.
I know it is highly unlikely but I'd love to see the team make a pitch for Campbell. He is now 31 but he should have a couple of more playing years left. Campbell will probably want to see if any NFL practice roster places open up but for practice roster purposes, age might not in his favour. A bit of a reach but stranger things have happened.

What's confusing Shatto, is in the transactions page on CFL.CA, it lists George being on the Argos PR....but on the Argos site it lists him on the active roster like you said....so which is it?shatto wrote: ↑Sat Aug 31, 2024 10:50 pm Gill, you may well be right. Re: 2024 Transactions
Not really. He was relegated to the practice roster twice this year.IssuesMcgee wrote: ↑Sat Aug 31, 2024 8:52 pmIt's odd someone like Pierce gets cut this late in the season...OV Argo wrote: ↑Sat Aug 31, 2024 4:37 pm Mason Pierce gets cut? - bit of a surprise IMO, considering lack of depth/experience in the current roster secondary. Re: 2024 Transactions
I think Campbell would be too high a price tag for them. They would probably target younger guys to add to thr PR. To me, the secondary has been improving all year. Similar to 2022, when they started off really shaky.shatto wrote: ↑Sat Aug 31, 2024 10:50 pm Gill, you may well be right. McFadden was cut and brought back as an instant starter. The twin DCs might be a bit confused figuring out secondary talent and schemes.
