Agree that this team is a mess, the only guy who isn't playing horribly is Carey. At least Dukes can scramble if he's cornered, Kelly seems to be either making bad throws or just getting sacked! Kudos to Ottawa though, they are playing well!
Re: Game Thread: Toronto Argonauts @ Ottawa Redblacks
Put Kelly on the sidelines. Let him look at the game from the sidelines. He has shown he has nothing today.
Try Dukes....he cannot possibly be as bad as Kelly.

this game is lost...Argo offence can't score 30 pts in a game.
Please show us some desire, some strategy, some game-planning, we miss those things all of which we had in 2023.

So what's more likely. A West crossover or the Tiger Cats overtaking us? Not like we'll make any noise in the playoffs. We're going to get clobbered against the Lions as well.

Ungerer bails Kelly out of two sure INTs. Still turns the ball over at the goal line. Sindani was open for a short touchdown, why is he trying to float it to Nield?

Re: Game Thread: Toronto Argonauts @ Ottawa Redblacks
it will come down to our home game vs Hamilton.
Ticats likely to go 3and2 in their remaining games excluding the Argo game. IF Argos can beat Ticats at home, Cats will end up 6and12, and 7 wins will be enough for 3rd place and a quick playoff exit.
We can already kiss a 2024 Home Field playoff game goodbye.
And yes you are right, we will be creamed in BC next week. Make your Pro-Line wagers now.

Kelly's decisions have been really poor.
Second down and Coxie wide-open on crossing route but he throws to,
and misses Nield.
Yes Sindani was alone at the goal line for an easy TD, and once again Kelly goes for a deep ball.
QB Decision-making is way off.

Well that was a pathetic game! I thought the Argos looked flat last week against Hamilton, but they didn't look any better this week. Like they don't care if they win or not. And Kelly looked awful, his head wasn't in the game, made bad decisions, bad throws, just seemed to freeze sometimes waiting to be sacked. Proves he can play as badly as he did in the Eastern final last year. He didn't get alot of help from the Offensive Line. The Argos defence didn't help and the offence looked mildly better in the second half, but not much. We've talked about how much better the Argos team was last year, with more depth and talent. But think it also proves that Kelly is also a much more mediocre quarterback when he is surrounded by a less talented team.

Yep - agreed - pathetic and embarrassing.kellynjk wrote: ↑Sat Sep 07, 2024 4:18 pm Well that was a pathetic game! Amazing how things can change in the game of football in short order - from GC Champs to a 16 & 2 season .. and then the East Final followed up by this really weak season (and not like the competition in the CFL this season is strong - a bunch of weak to $hitty teams).
Lost some respect today for both coach RD as an offensive mind / play-caller (WTF throwing out in the flat from deep in your own end early in a ball game = never, never do this !), and for Kelly as a smart QB - dumb throws, standing in the pocket way too long. This Argo offence I guess is never going to really grasp what a balanced offence with a run game can do.
And not sure how much the loss of DC Mace has done, but this defence has been really bad at times this season, and looks like they are afraid to play aggressive.
Getting to sit in the rain thru a wimpy effort against a $hitty, big-time over-rated Ottawa team was very annoying.

Bad game as a whole, eerily similar to the East Final against the Als. Kelly didn't play well at all, neither did the rest of the team. Although I believe keeping him at QB for the whole game and letting him ride it out was the right decision. He's been sitting on the sidelines for ages because of the suspension, so the last thing we need is for his morale to sink even further if he was standing on the sidelines for an extended period of time. Hopefully he bounces back.
The defense had a few stops, but not nearly enough. They got torched.
Also a minor gripe, I'm more accustomed to watching hockey and I know football players and coaches are built differently. But Dinwiddie's over reaction to us getting a TD to open up the half was very silly. I know he's trying to boost the energy of the team but we were still down big. He needs to channel his emotions there. Of course the Redblacks got a TD on the next series lol.
I know it's much too early to talk about the playoffs, since it's looking like a struggle right now, but if we do make it. It'll be as a third seed which means we'll start off on the road. When is the last time we won a road playoff game aside from the Grey cup games?
