He wasn’t going to win if he could have challenged the Milton PI. Milton grabbed him first, then there was the contact after the grab. Yes Lawler embellished, but we would not have won a challenge on that. I also think the TSN did not pick up what the Argos challenged on the blocking down field. From what I understand, the o line on the other side were blocking 3-5 yards down field prior to the passArgoRavi wrote: ↑Fri Oct 11, 2024 11:45 pmRun your regular offence in those situations instead of continually doing something that you're not good at. Also, Dinwiddie has to be smarter with his challenges. He wasted one that he had little chance of winning and then didn't have it for the phantom interference call on Milton when Lawler dove in the endzone.
Anyway, it was a huge win tonight and a dominant performance by the defence but it never should have been that close.

After watching the Milton play again I'm convinced there was no P I on the play. Good to see Chaves come through--he must have been under a lot pressure seeing it was his first pro game. Great performance by the DL . Hope Carey is not seriously injured as he is a key part of the Argo offense.

I don’t disagree, but there was enough contact that a challenge would not have overturned it. He did give him a bit of a tug before the collision (IMO initiated by Lawler), but I see no way whatever the call on the field was would have been overturned.

One of my favourite parts of the victory last night was that earlier in the day, Derek Taylor tweeted about how good Sergio Castillo has been and put up some analytics of how he was the top kicker in FG’s above expected (I don’t know, shouldn’t most FG’s be expected now that all kicks are directly in front of the goal posts?). I really liked him at TSN, but man has he ever become a huge homer since getting the Bombeds job, likely influenced by that loser Doug Brown. How many years did he play in an 8/9 team league and never win a championship?
In any event, I responded to him after the game and said his tweet didn’t age well.

I met him and his lovely wife once at The Second City in Chicago. They were at the same show as my wife and I. Very nice couple. I think there are a bunch of really good players from Ottawa, Winnipeg and Hamilton who never got to win a cup because of how long their droughts were/are. Stegall probably the best to never win. Brown was very good. Would you not want him on your team during your playing days? He and Taylor are big time Homers though.AngeloV wrote: ↑Sat Oct 12, 2024 12:47 pm One of my favourite parts of the victory last night was that earlier in the day, Derek Taylor tweeted about how good Sergio Castillo has been and put up some analytics of how he was the top kicker in FG’s above expected (I don’t know, shouldn’t most FG’s be expected now that all kicks are directly in front of the goal posts?). CFL is such a crazy game...just think if Castillo did not have the "doink" when it was 13-11 I believe, thenArgoRavi wrote: ↑Fri Oct 11, 2024 11:45 pmRun your regular offence in those situations instead of continually doing something that you're not good at. it could have been Bombers 14 Argos 13 and big-time pressure on the Argos offense to drive down to FG range in the last minute.
Maybe it should not have been that close, agree with you, but also Argos should not have lost it, but they easily could have.
You just can't beat the last 3 minutes of a CFL game (most nites) for excitement.

His misses left 5 points of the board. Dinwiddie read Vandal the riot act because of his roughing play after the whistle which took the Argos out of FG range. I thought that may end up costing the Argos the game. It was a close one. Possible Grey Cup preview. Although I'm pulling for a BC vs Argos Grey Cup.TrueBlueGuy wrote: ↑Sat Oct 12, 2024 12:57 pmCFL is such a crazy game...just think if Castillo did not have the "doink" when it was 13-11 I believe, thenArgoRavi wrote: ↑Fri Oct 11, 2024 11:45 pmRun your regular offence in those situations instead of continually doing something that you're not good at. You're right and not the first time, either. We have a great O-line, but I just feel he doesn't have the strength or size to power through if things get blocked up.
I am surprised that they haven't given thought to having someone like Mital take the snap from centre at the goal line. He is a big bruising guy.
