Playoff stats:

15 tackles, 4 interceptions, 94 yards, 2 INT returns, and 2 pass knockdowns.

Definitely one of the Argos who made the most progress over the 2024 season.

Very happy for Franklin's progression. In the early part of the year, he looked every inch a player... but it just hadn't clicked. But boy-howdy when he got the wind in his sails, he was a huge difference maker.

Franklin is a good reminder to fans to show a little patience. Some fans were ready to run him out of town early in the season and even at other points during the season but you have to let players develop sometimes, especially when they have the skills that he clearly possesses.

Franklin seemed to find his game when they moved him to the boundary side. There is a lot more 1 on 1 coverage for the boundary corner, and maybe he's just better at man, then he is at zone. He was fantastic.

Another guy I imagine might get some NFL looks. You can't teach speed.

Yeah, you never know, with that kind of speed (4.32 forty !!! - did not realize he was that fast !); the NFL has next to no use for film of good CFL play but they do love their athletes with speed; but unlike Q. Stiggers the season before, Franklin already had an NFL shot (Seahawks) and sometimes I think might mean less chance of another look (but not always as in the case of Austin Mack last off-season).

Also interesting how another Argo DB - just last season - Mason Pierce - seemed to be really coming on as a top notch D-half, but then ends up getting cut ?

The age factor is against Franklin. As OV points out, he has had his NFL shot, plus is now 28, He might get a look see but not likely to get any serious consideration by the NFL. OV also raises an interesting question about Pierce, who looked so good last year but gets cut this year. But even more interesting is that no other team picked him up.

I thought this might have been part of our defence doing more Man this year than what Mace had done before?

I suspect that is what the issue was for Pierce. I was a little surprised that the Riders didn't pick him up for depth.

This is also why I don't get too worked up about CFL players getting workouts or even signing in the NFL, as the NFL doesn't seem to have a lot of interest in CFL players in this day and age. The NFL looks at these players as ones they have already passed over so are less inclined to look at them again because they couldn't have possibly been wrong the first time! It is also true that Franklin's age will work against him.
