But a schedule reveal? Come on. That's absurd. Just releasing the schedule is all that's needed. Maybe they could have gone on social media the day before and built some excitement that it was coming "tomorrow", but other than that, who cares how they release it. It's not like the team is revealing the sex of an upcoming child.

It was JC taking cheap "Pot Shots" at the Argos for how they are managing their Cap situation that was annoying. Agreed, who cares about the "Schedule Reveal" or whatever he called it.

So it's OK to care about how the CFL and its teams market their product, but only some aspects of that?

Like it or not, this is a marketing endeavour -- which is why some teams put considerable effort into it. If all teams did was post the schedule on their website, some fans would be all over them for missing an opportunity to engage with existing and potential customers. When they make an attempt to engage with existing and potential customers, some fans say why bother.

I get what you're saying but why is a schedule reveal suddenly important to 3DN now? How come this wasn't an issue to them at any point in the last decade?

They can't fall back on their regular insults around attendance, because the Argos attendance is trending upwards.

They can't say anything about the Argos circumventing the cap because BC was the biggest culprit last season. They also don't seem to be as willing to go after BC for doing so as they did with the Argos this time last year. I wonder why?

It seems to me this article was created just to insult the Argos. Again, a schedule reveal was never a subject they covered in the past.

Whining and complaining about the “schedule reveal” is absurd, I’m much more interested in what players the Argos can retain and subsequently what free agents they can sign in February.

It's entirely possible for Argo fans to have a chip on their shoulder about how 3DN writes about the Argos. That's beside the point, IMO.
The issue I addressed was whether or not they should have been writing about how teams handled the schedule release. This is a legitimate thing to cover. ANYTHING teams do publicly is legitimately open to scrutiny and coverage. This is especially true in a league that has often been accused of not doing enough to promote its product. What many teams did last week was an attempt to promote the product.

And it’s more likely the author of this article has something against the Argos.
Not sure what is expected with the release of a schedule, I saw it on instagram several times, as I said the whole thing is ridiculous.

The whole thing meaning the 3DN article, or teams trying (to varying degrees) to use the release as an opportunity to connect with ticket buyers and fans? It's obvious some posters here were offended by the article, but some also seemed to feel there was no need for teams to do anything more than post the schedule. I heartily disagree with the latter sentiment, obviously. It presented a publicity/marketing opportunity worth seizing, in a league that has been notorious for not seizing such opportunities.

A website about the CFL looking for clicks. I really don't have a problem with it. Argos social media presence, graphics department, schedule reveal was lacking. I don't care how its released nor do I think fans care. Nor do I think non fans will even notice if it came with fireworks. It is what it is. No issue with the ranking of it as well. Sue me haha.

I used to be on the John Hodge/JC Abbott have it in for the Argos train a couple of years ago but have paid much closer attention to what they have been writing and saying for the past couple of years and both have been far more complimentary of the Argos than not over that time.

As for the schedule reveal, I really don't see a problem with the article. I don't think there is anything wrong with saying that the Argos could have done better but I also don't think that it's a huge issue either.

I will say that without 3downnation.com, there would be far, far less to read and listen to about our beloved league, especially in the off-season.
