That's going to be a nice magic trick. I can't believe none of the departing defensive players were interested in going for dynasty status.

A couple of additions might, possibly, be difference makers for the D: ex-Bomber Donald Rutledge made plays for them a couple seasons back and might be able to handle S-OLB (where Adeleke was on the GC D); ex-EE Darius Bratton has built up 2 seasons of starting time there - mostly D-half i think - , and has made 5 picks in the past 2 seasons.shatto wrote: ↑Sat Feb 08, 2025 7:07 pm The team has lost 10 players from their defense, the defense that had a big part to play in winning the Grey Cup. All but Holley, were vets. It will be incredibly difficult to rebuild the defense with new players, many of whom, out of necessity, will be new to the league. If the team does win the Grey cup again, with the newly created defense, the coaching staff and senior staff should be recognized as having achieved something close to a miracle and they will deserve all the accolades they receive.
I hope they achieve the miracle but boy, it will be a difficult task.
The addition of both Judge & Varga is kinda curious IMO, since Varga is a starting calibre CFL LB IMO, but is not going to un-seat outstanding vets McManis & Judge; but I guess a good back-up for both spots.
D-Line is where the huge hole is now; maybe they recruit another Holley, Hendrix or Brinkman type - that is not a safe assumption IMO, - but still gotta try; Parrish was a good find last year at DE; Hergott got little chance to play DE but maybe learned & progressed. And this year's CFL draft crop has some good potential talent in 2 big areas of Argo need now - safety and D-line - please show some respect / faith in Canadian talent to go there early in the draft. Not sure if they like any of the still out there known FA D-linemen, but the pickings are getting slim - I'd welcome Oakman back, but him and Dionte Knight both got shipped out, and not really sure why ?

MLSE hasn’t handcuffed Argo management to date, I don’t see much changing with Rogers.gilthethrill wrote: ↑Sat Feb 08, 2025 8:13 pmNew ownership not wanting to spend ARGO57?ARGO57 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 08, 2025 6:42 pmApparently they weren’t interested in returning and took the cash elsewhere.Scooter McCray wrote: ↑Sat Feb 08, 2025 6:35 pm The Argos need to build an entire defence. When all is said and done they will spend accordingly to field a competitive and entertaining product.

I trust the system.
Since Pinball has been GM, this organization has been stellar when it comes to building teams, through smart recruiting and bringing out the best in players.
Not worried at all.

The Argos track record with Pinball as GM is very good, they have operated their business in a very shrewd manor which I expect to continue.IssuesMcgee wrote: ↑Sat Feb 08, 2025 9:25 pm I trust the system.

What remaining FAs do you have in mind?
Re: 2024-2025 Offseason Transactions Page
The Argos felt that the d-linemen they had were better than Oakman and Knight and it's hard to argue with that. I will also add that Knight left willingly as the Ticats claimed him off the PR.OV Argo wrote: ↑Sat Feb 08, 2025 8:49 pmA couple of additions might, possibly, be difference makers for the D: ex-Bomber Donald Rutledge made plays for them a couple seasons back and might be able to handle S-OLB (where Adeleke was on the GC D); ex-EE Darius Bratton has built up 2 seasons of starting time there - mostly D-half i think - , and has made 5 picks in the past 2 seasons.shatto wrote: ↑Sat Feb 08, 2025 7:07 pm The team has lost 10 players from their defense, the defense that had a big part to play in winning the Grey Cup. Even without Amos and Adeleke the secondary is loaded with talent and experience:Scooter McCray wrote: ↑Sat Feb 08, 2025 6:35 pm The Argos need to build an entire defence. What's left McManis? Judge, Varga?
Milton (what a find this guy was)
Franklin
McFadden
Blackburn/Edouard
Bratton
Mauger
Throw in some new talent and I’m good with this group
Re: 2024-2025 Offseason Transactions Page
As I said Oakman and Acheampong are no-brainers for me. I’d also bring Micah Awe back, one of the underrated bangers, would look awful good beside McManus and reunited with Judge. Also, there’s a couple of intriguing DL FAs on Sask and Edm (and elsewhere) that could yield a hidden gem. As Mcgee said, I trust the system to find the good ones.

I noticed on CFL.ca transactions, it appears Acheampong has been extended by Edmonton. On another social media platform, I also suggested bringing Oakman back but was informed he took a coaching job in the States....I can't confirm that though.RichK wrote: ↑Sun Feb 09, 2025 1:56 amAs I said Oakman and Acheampong are no-brainers for me.
