Well, this Bryan Cox transaction will make a couple of "Delinquent " forum members rejoice. What will he do next? Give a "2 Thumbs Down" salute to the team the Argos beat in the Grey Cup?? I never!

Defensive line coach Demetrious Maxie returning to Edmonton could be a factor also.ARGO57 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 12, 2025 5:05 pmMany factors could go into a player moving on, financial, family considerations, wanting to play with former teammates or coaches or simply wanting a change of scenery.shatto wrote: ↑Wed Feb 12, 2025 12:58 pm Apparently, Ceresna turned down an offer from the Argos of $40,000 more than Elks signed him for. I read somewhere Ceresna's wife is from Edmonton so perhaps that helped in his decision. But there must be a story behind why and how both Smith and Brinkman decided to sign with the Elks. Maybe, money was not the main reason for them leaving. Wonder if we will ever find out the whole story.
Maybe Brinkman and Smith enjoyed playing with Ceresna and decided to join forces in Edmonton, who knows and quite frankly who cares at this point.

He’s working on more hand gestures aimed at the toothless mob (except one) that cheers for the team that plays down the QEW.gilthethrill wrote: ↑Thu Feb 13, 2025 6:03 pm Well, this Bryan Cox transaction will make a couple of "Delinquent " forum members rejoice. Single bird, double bird, degeneration X salute and more should all be on full display this season.
I like this signing a lot, a little bit of attitude and sandpaper goes a long way!

Cox looks like a good replacement for Smith, even though it means replacing a Canadian for an American. Both had 6 sacks last year and Cox does appear to bring a combative attitude to the DL, which isn't a bad thing. Unless one of the rookie signings turns out to be an outstanding player, Cox looks to be Smith's replacement.
I like the Lanier signing, if he can regain the form of two years ago. His tackle and sack totals have dropped over the last couple of years. From 8 sacks to 5 to 2.

We know they’re very high on power back Miyan Williams, because they traded away fan favourite power back Adedoboye to open up a roster space for him. I’ll be surprised if he’s not in the opening day lineup.ArgoRavi wrote: ↑Tue Feb 11, 2025 5:28 pmI foresee both Carey and Brown playing a lot. I have virtually no confidence that MLSE is looking to do something like that again, I'm afraid.

Re: 2025 Argos Free Agency Tracker
I don't think anyone is traded at this time of year to open roster space -- rosters can be bigger than the limit during the off-season. While I'm sure they're high on every new player on the roster, I think the main reason for the Adeboboye trade was to obtain the rights to Andre Carter. A secondary reason was the likelihood that, coming off his rookie deal, DA would expect a significant raise. Given that three veteran RBs are under contract, I'd rate the chances of Williams being on the game roster in Week 1 as pretty low. If he proves me wrong, great, although how would it go over if it comes at the expense of "fan favourite" Ka'deem Carey?
Re: 2025 Argos Free Agency Tracker
Williams would likely need to have an amazing TC to unseat either of Carey or Kevin Brown (who is IMO maybe the most talented RB in the league - still can't believe the Argos were able to snag him); could see them carrying McMahon again in the same role - change of pace back who can also do some kick return duties. I just hope HC RD continues to have lots of faith in a ground game, and the Carey & Brown duo could be the best 1-2 RB punch the league has had in some time. The signing of Bruno Labelle - a true tight end type - is kinda interesting; since the Argo O rarely deployed a fullback/H-back type recently. Love to see that wrinkle - a tight end formation - thrown in once in awhile, for further offensive diversity (but will be very surprised if that happens)RichK wrote: ↑Sun Feb 16, 2025 2:28 amWe know they’re very high on power back Miyan Williams, because they traded away fan favourite power back Adedoboye to open up a roster space for him. Also still hoping the Argos will draft another RB - to replace Adeboboye - as both a capable ball carrier/RB and maybe a very tough ST guy as well. There are several good prospects there this draft IMO, and likely can get one in the mid to late rounds (another Vandal like pick; and the lack of recognition for that pick - last round/last overall, who starts on a GC winning O-line as a rookie, is so CFL typical)
Re: 2025 Argos Free Agency Tracker
I don’t envision the Argos shying away from the running game considering the talent they have at that position and the O-Line they currently have.OV Argo wrote: ↑Sun Feb 16, 2025 2:30 pmWilliams would likely need to have an amazing TC to unseat either of Carey or Kevin Brown (who is IMO maybe the most talented RB in the league - still can't believe the Argos were able to snag him); could see them carrying McMahon again in the same role - change of pace back who can also do some kick return duties. Ball possession will be key in taking some pressure off a D that will feature many new players and could take time to hit their stride.

If you’re going to have a 3-man RB rotation it can be very useful if one of the three is a power back like Adedoboye or Miyan Williams. A power back can give you an edge in both short yardage and pass protection situations.
Williams is not your typical training camp RB fodder. He is probably the most highly-regarded rookie RB to come to the Argos since James Wilder or Cory Boyd. 20 rushing TDs over 3 seasons for Ohio State speaks volumes about him.
Obviously big talent is no guarantee of CFL success, but if Williams was 3 inches taller he would likely be in the NFL. If he looks good at camp it would sure be a shame to lose the 23-year-old all because of the apparently afterthought signing of the 32-year-old Carey.
