3 Down Nation Power Ranking puts the Argos 6th

Post by TICATS SUCK ! »

I didn't expect 3D to have the Argos ranked first, in light of the players we lost or traded away. That being said, I was kind of shocked to see the us ranked so lowly. Even after what was accomplished last season under similar circumstances, we are being given the Rodney Dangerfield treatment. What do you think?

I was going to post this yesterday but thought better of it.

The folks at 3DN will never learn. All they are doing is setting themselves up for more disappointment.

As time goes on, 3DN is proving itself to be useful only as an aggregator of CFL news. Once it goes into editorializing, its usefulness diminishes exponentially.

Maybe so; but at least they are out there to provide Canadian football news.

As far as those power rankings - too much about "talent" with little consideration to coaching staff smarts, IMO. The Argos are coming off 2 GC seasons, sandwiched around an all-time best CFL regular season mark; and the Als had the league's best record last season off of a GC win season. Riders at #1 is just click-bait sucking up to the large Riders' fan base - Mace did Ok there but hardly anything special, but guess he could improve; the Lions & EE have raw rookie HCs; the Stumps and Pussycats are saddled with dumb as a plank HCs. This needs to be taken into consideration way more IMO.

So the returning Grey Cup Champions will have:
-The best head coach in the league
-The best QB in the league
-The best defensive player in the league
-The most impactful ST player in the league
-A solid O-Line, receiver corps and RB battery
-A rebuilt defensive line and defensive backfield

I don't care if they say we're 9th. Ottawa, Montreal and Hamilton have all re-tooled and are coming for us but I wouldn't trade what we have for what they have for all the poutine in Quebec.

I look at it as an opportunity for the next group of young hungry players to play hard and prove themselves with the Argonauts.
Trust and enjoy the process as it unfolds.

The continuity on the Argo offence is the best compared to any other team. The Argos at full strength have the best offence in the league. They can come at you either with big plays or grind it out on the ground. The defence is a rebuild, but with all star/leadership pieces still in place. Special teams tilts the field in Argos favor as well. 6th place is a joke. I worry about the defence, but this team can still hang with anyone and contend for a championship still. No question.

Very disappointing. Number one reason I became an Argo fan was to win a February power ranking.

The poor reputation the Argos have for being unpopular and hated is maintained by a constant barage of attacks on all fronts.

Considering one of the main purposes of 3DN is to showcase Canadian football, it would be nice if they didn't pile on the Argos along with everyone else.
