As a reminder, Ojo was not dressed on Saturday so presumably was not healthy. I don't think anyone here wants or expects either guy to be placed on the practice roster. If they earn a starting spot on the d-line, great. If not, they can contribute on specials until such time as they develop into starting d-linemen or get replaced by someone cheaper or better. Hergott has already been a good contributor on specials as a rookie. Does he have more than that in him? Guess we'll find out at some point. Ojo will start to show what potential he has once he's healthy.

Smith got paid (and good for him) and I don't see anyone prioritizing finding his replacement. And I don't mean a retread, I mean we drafted Hergott and Ojo in hopes that they would develop.
Call me a crazy conspiracy theorist but those two (and others like them) won't reach their potential on the practice roster... Assuming they wouldn't get poached by a team willing to be innovative and actually play Canadian talent.
It's basically a whacky conspiracy theory if u think Canadian talent should get more looks or playing time in the "modern" (sic = GOB) CFL. That "conspiracy theory" card is a standard play by those who are offended by this opinion. It's not just here and way more played on some other CFL fan forums.

Thanks for clarifying. Not sure what any of that has to do with a 90's Canadian punk band ;)
I'm not sure that I've seen anyone offended by the opinion that Canadian players ought to be a focus in a Canadian league. though, but I'll take your word for it.
Hope isn't a depth chart strategy

Because nobody is. In fact, most of us are proud when a true Canadian (not a loophole who had a grandparent born here while they had all their training in the US). But because some of us point out that some Canadian back ups get paid more than American starters, we’re deemed good ole boy myopic “thinkers”.

Welcome to the site BTW.

I'll take a guess that you haven't read many CFL fan forums before ? :D

The "ratio problem" cry-babying and dismissive attitudes towards Canadian talent (certain positions for sure) and staunch defence of the Americans first CFL ways is very prevalent on some other CFL fan forums (but not this one thankfully).
