According to the " West Jet Canada Day " injury reports, Kelly was DNP today.

Maybe Mister Rogers spent too much on NHL hockey again. But they've had Edmonton in the finals 2 years in a row, so ratings must be good. Hosting an East Final could recoup most of that. The NHL Maple Leafs salary cap is probably going up by more than the entire Argo team cap next season. If they really want to save money the Argos are not the low hanging fruit.paulwoods13 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 26, 2025 2:56 pm I assume everyone here understands that there is no "saving" from putting someone on the 6-game. The $200k owing to Kelly for six games still gets paid to Kelly, but doesn't get charged against the cap. That means the team has the ability to spend an extra $200k without it being charged against the cap, but doing so would mean spending $400k in real dollars. If money is tight, who's to say MLSE would approve such an unbudgeted expenditure?

They must have thought Kelly would be good to go sooner. He must be having unexpected setbacks in his recovery. I just hope he doesn't lose another half season or more.paulwoods13 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 26, 2025 2:56 pm I assume everyone here understands that there is no "saving" from putting someone on the 6-game. They are being very careful with Kelly, best not to rush him back.Scooter McCray wrote: ↑Thu Jun 26, 2025 6:45 pmThey must have thought Kelly would be good to go sooner. Nothing wrong with protecting Kelly’s wellbeing above all.

I think Pelley was hired, in part, because he promised to get spending under control in all facets of the organization, big and small. The Argos might be a rounding error on MLSE's books, but that doesn't mean they are immune to financial discipline. They almost certainly spent a lot more than the salary cap in 2023, simply by virtue of paying Bladek and Muamba their full (high) salaries all year, outside of cap rules. I can't see Rogers thinking that continuing that made sense.Scooter McCray wrote: ↑Thu Jun 26, 2025 6:42 pm Maybe Mister Rogers spent too much on NHL hockey again. They just said on TSN that Brown won't play this week and that Crum will start. Calgary was thin in the linebacking corps and the weather was awful so I doubt that the same formula will be successful against the Argos but we shall see.

Applied run game, Ravi.
Seriously; I do fear Crum getting outside and running. Contain will be huge this week.
Re: Game Thread: Argos vs. REDBLACKS Sunday June 29 7:00 PM
You can't run the ball more than pass in a CFL game and hope to win, Ravi = just impossible, and GOB (and their dupe/apologists) mind-boggling.

Has anyone heard why Kelly was DNP yesterday? Did he suffer a setback? This should be treated as big news when an MOP candidate isn't even practicing.Scooter McCray wrote: ↑Thu Jun 26, 2025 6:45 pmThey must have thought Kelly would be good to go sooner.
