Staying with the running game was a lot easier in the old days when there were far more low scoring games. You often still had a chance to win even if the run wasn't working and you were forced to punt a lot. They also didn't have to worry much about punt returns pre-1976 when blocking was illegal.
Also staying with the run game was easier until the forward pass was invented.
Maybe the Notre Dame 4 horseman offence should be a consideration.

We really shouldn't be questioning here anything CFL offensive "brain-trusts" do these days = they are all inscrutable football geniuses; I'm surprised most games aren't 76 to 68 type shoot-outs.
As opposed to questioning every one and calling them all the same old same old, when it’s pretty obvious to most that every team runs something different. And then You always have for fall back plan of anti Canadian.

It really has little to do with the RB’s. The o-line run blocking has been dreadful.
I agree. Dylan Giffen is known as an excellent run blocker. Whenever he is healthy enough, I wonder if he gets into the starting lineup, perhaps at the expense of Vandal who hasn't seemed quite as good this year.
I hope that Giffen can get healthy soon as he would bring much more size inside than Vandal does. It is funny that the Argos have been a very effective inside running team for the past few seasons but has lost that this season. Maybe when Kelly gets back into the lineup and brings that scrambling threat then the inside of defenses start to loosen up which should help the inside run game.
Kelly would make the run game more effective because it would be a lighter box based on the fact that teams fear his arm more than Arbuckle’s
We were at the game, and I have to commend the REDBLACKS on a great game-day-information web site, full of details on how to get to the stadium, who the people being honoured were, maps of the area and more. Also impressive, the free OC Transpo bus and train rides to the stadium area itself. We wound up taking a free express bus from the stadium right back to our hotel (across the street from the St Laurent bus terminal) - all neatly outlined in the redblacks game day info site. Multiple free buses in multiple directions. ell done. Other teams could learn from this.
And what a great atmosphere around TD Place before the game. I hadn't been in a while - so nice to see all these bars and restaurants just steps from the stadium.
With all the traffic chaos around BMO, running buses to the stadium might not work here, but .... surely they could do something with GO Transit. (How about posting the times of the first few after-game departures on the scoreboard, for instance.)

I'm surprised you still watch a game that you hate based on your posting history.
And I'm not at all surprised by you and your ilk here being all bent out of shape, cry-baby by football opinions that offend you.
I was at the game yesterday BTW - wearing Argo gear and cheering them on, sitting in my CFL season tix.

3 yards and a cloud of dust, ahh the good old days.
Now that I’ve had a couple of days to reflect on this game, it’s pretty obvious the Argos were very fortunate to win this game thanks to the heroics of Slywka. Let’s be honest, 1 offensive TD is not going to cut it. Dinwiddie was not happy with the offence post game again. Hopefully this will be the last game Kelly misses, because following the bye they are at Montreal again, followed by home and home with Winnipeg. Not wanting to sound negative, but I think Friday is another must win.

Your observations are valid. By memory, the Argos had two good drives in the first quarter to go up 10-0, and then relied on the two Slywka returns to make it 25 points. I'd note that the Redblacks held the ball for much of the 3rd quarter because of the defensive/ST touchdowns, but there were drives in the 2nd and 4th quarter where Toronto didn't move the ball well. To Arbuckle's credit, he did lead a decent drive (or at least Coxie bailed him out) after Ottawa scored their TD to make it somewhat close.

That play were " Coxie bailed him out " was a free play due to Ottawa being offsides.

Tough stretch ahead, hopefully the season doesn’t go sideways.
