I’m glad somebody said this. All the sky-is-falling Argo fans need to remember that those three Lawlor TDs were all world-class football skill level plays that would have likely succeeded against any defence. The coverage was excellent on all three plays, and the Argo defenders had their hands within inches of the ball when it arrived. But no D is gonna stop a perfect throw combined with a spectacular athletic catch.
This maybe true Rich but appreciating a Hamilton TD against the Argonauts ain’t happening!
Yeah, the TiCats will always suck large regardless, but my point is that our defence may not be the total disaster some are making it out to be.
Overall considering the amount of changes the D has been pretty decent so far this season, way more issues with the O and special teams.
Penalties and turning the ball over doesn’t help either.

Literally inches or inch. I almost think you run those 3 plays again, maybe a finger gets on all three! One of those things. Plays like that are going to happen, however you can’t turn the ball over with a really bad pass only to allow shots like that. If Arbuckle hits Ungerer in stride, I think it’s 14-zip. They kickoff and now Bo has to go the whole field without momentum. Total game changer.

I like Arbuckle. Think he's a great back up, but turnovers have been his issue since the first time he was here. 7 picks and a fumble which was returned for a TD in 5 games is very hard to overcome.

Unfortunately, for much of his career, Arbuckle has been a turnover machine. Hopefully the O-line will pick up their play to help alleviate the pressure on him and help reduce the turnovers.

Yes, they seem to happen at the worst times or immediately lead to points. You’re right, this team currently can’t overcome compounding mistakes. Frustrating, because the offence did relatively well the rest of the game and we got a much needed special teams TD. Even though many consider the game a blowout, there was a pathway to victory if the defence would have come up with stops or a timely turnover themselves.

Which makes his performance in the biggest game of his career all the more remarkable.

Except many of our kickoffs got only to about the 30-yard line, and Hamilton got some good returns.

This is where Boris Bede was very valuable, being able to pin teams deep with his kickoffs. When kicking to the goal line, a good return will bring the ball to the 30 or 35. Invariably, most returns would be at the 25, which gave the Argo defense a big advantage and put a lot of pressure on opposing offenses. That being said, this scenario could have only occurred with TD's and not FG's.

Hajrullahu has a strong leg but nobody has a stronger one than Bede. The one thing I miss with Bede is those deep kickoffs. They were underrated, but really helped the defence ultimately. A team in need of kicking help could do worse than to bring Bede in as a punter and kickoff specialist.

Bede's status as an INT has killed his career. If he was a GLO, he'd still have a job IMO.
