There would appear to be a possibility tonight's game will need to be delayed or postponed due to poor air quality in Winnipeg. Env Can is forecasting "very high" risk all day and evening (10+). CFL won't start the game if it's 8 or above.

Winnipeg were not able to practice on day one this week because of it. With a double header on Saturday, they may need to move it to Sunday.paulwoods13 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 01, 2025 7:31 am There would appear to be a possibility tonight's game will need to be delayed or postponed due to poor air quality in Winnipeg. It would be quite a hardship to make the Argos stay two extra nights, but I agree it's a possibility. And it presumes AQ will get better over the weekend.Scooter McCray wrote: ↑Fri Aug 01, 2025 9:02 amWinnipeg were not able to practice on day one this week because of it. A rookie S-OLB with slightly better, perhaps, pure cover skills but little clue about CFL offences in general is not going to do much against a Strevler offence in particular; a 4-3 with 3 true (and smart & Canadian ball experienced) LBs who can also blitz lots would be way more effective IMO; but then again, I'm not a pro football coach, but just a couch potato fan = we should all just defer to whatever the coaches do as inscrutable wisdom.![]()
I must admit, I am not the authority on, nor apologist for, "modern" same old, tired old, standard CFL procedures like you are.
A weaker coverage DB (like most CFL S-OLBs are) asked to man cover a team's most dangerous, big-play slotback without blitz support from one or both of the inside LBs or free safety support over the top, is likely asking for trouble, if it is done often.

Environment Canada have AQI at 10+ all day Saturday and evening Saturday as well. It would be good for the league and TSN to get ahead of it this time with plans and contingencies.paulwoods13 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 01, 2025 9:38 amIt would be quite a hardship to make the Argos stay two extra nights, but I agree it's a possibility. Mrs gil won't be pleased if gil is on the couch Sunday night of the long weekend watching the Argos. I know of certain posters on the forum that are allowed to get away with such hijinx on a daily basis. Let's hope the game can go on as scheduled in a safe manner.paulwoods13 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 01, 2025 7:31 am There would appear to be a possibility tonight's game will need to be delayed or postponed due to poor air quality in Winnipeg. Start referring to football as "church." No one will stand in your way from watching or attending a game.gilthethrill wrote: ↑Fri Aug 01, 2025 10:45 amMrs gil won't be pleased if gil is on the couch Sunday night of the long weekend watching the Argos.
