Game Thread - Ottawa Redblacks vs. Toronto Argonauts - Saturday August 9 @ 3:00 pm
I need to get this in while I am able. This site is breaking down as much as the Argonaut roster is this season.
The Redblacks beat the Stampeders last week handily. However the Ottawa offence should have lit the scoreboard up against that Stampeder team with so many injuries, and the didn't. Their offence looked anemic most of the night.
Ottawa should be a scarier team, but they just aren't. Combination of conservative play calling, underperforming players and coaches. If they lose to the Argos on Saturday they will be in a world of hurt. In my mind them not hiring Corey Mace after they interviewed him following the 2022 Grey Cup win was a massive mistake. Choosing Bob Dyce over Mace was wrong then and it would be wrong now. Which sums up their GM. Expect massive change once again in the nation's capital this offseason.
The Argos after a weak start in Winnipeg should look to get out to a quick start this week and put this Ottawa team in a hole early. They have winnable games ahead with games versus Ottawa, Edmonton and BC this month. Win those and they will be firmly in playoff territory. Stay there until fully healthy in mid September and make the run. A healthy Argo team could be a dangerous playoff opponent. They just have to get in.

Stay in your seats at Halftime for a special presentation of Don Kirshners Rock Concert. If you grew up in the 70s you remember this iconic weekly variety show. Wonder how they are going to do it, since Don died in 2011.

1. Who or what is Don Kirshner?
2. BC's win over Hamilton makes getting the 2 points on Saturday all the more important.

That's very true, I am looking at Winnipeg's upcoming schedule, I think the Argos can surpass the in the standings the 2nd week of September. Wasn't Don Kirshner a WWF wrestler who was a Corporal?

There was a Corporal Kirchner who was brought on when Sgt. Slaughter left for AWA.gilthethrill wrote: ↑Fri Aug 08, 2025 6:21 amThat's very true, I am looking at Winnipeg's upcoming schedule, I think the Argos can surpass the in the standings the 2nd week of September. Don Kirshner was a successful producer and music promoter in the 60s, 70s and early 80s. He had a weekly TV concert show in the 70s with the very best Rock acts on Earth each week. In the 1970s SNL Paul Schaeffer did an impersonation of him. Paul was the original SNL bandleader which was also the Blues Brothers band before he moved to David Letterman when late night started up.Will wrote: ↑Fri Aug 08, 2025 9:03 amThere was a Corporal Kirchner who was brought on when Sgt. Schaeffer did a parody of the real guy. Kirshners Rock Concert was a weekly TV show with huge acts on it.Will wrote: ↑Fri Aug 08, 2025 12:47 pmI know who Shaffer is, he was a featured player on SNL for one season as well.Scooter McCray wrote: ↑Fri Aug 08, 2025 9:25 amDon Kirshner was a successful producer and music promoter in the 60s, 70s and early 80s. I actually do not know what the real halftime entertainment will be tomorrow afternoon. I just know that at 38 degrees Celsius myself and the players will be hydrating. Hopefully the halftime act will be hydrated as well.
