As much as I don’t trust or care for Rogers I don’t see many (or any) other Argo ownership options at this time so yes the league should play nice with them.paulwoods13 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 16, 2025 7:26 pm The league is in no position to throw its weight around with Rogers. Its objective must be to keep Rogers in the tent, not push it out.

It will be interesting to see how the B. C. ownership manages the situation.
Re: 2026 World Cup
Do you honestly think that the CFL finding this acceptable or not is even a consideration? The City of Toronto is budgeting something like $380 million dollars to host these World Cup games. No amount of Argo fan revolt, or action by the league or Rogers, would make a difference. And the contract with FIFA gives them unfettered access to BMO for 30 days before the World Cup starts.Scooter McCray wrote: ↑Fri Aug 15, 2025 12:32 pm How can the league think this is remotely acceptable? 3 home games in Ham, Wpg, Saskatchewan against those same teams? And they have to play those teams again for their Away games? Those are the most difficult stadiums to play in. Football is the most difficult sport to play on the road. This is a fatal competitive disadvantage for one team. Where's Rogers in all of this fighting for their team. Pelley?
The worst thing is the decision by the league for the Argos to have 3 home games away, two of them out west. Some of the suggestions put forward in this thread would be way better alternatives. But here is the rub.... the opponents for those home games out west will be the Bombers and the Riders, so you can pretty well be certain that the stadiums will be filled, much more so than BMO ever is. Thus, the irony is that Rogers will stand to make more money this way. And in the end, that matters more than anything else.
One question.... I am not a soccer fan, so don't follow TFC. I assume they would be in a similar position? What is happening with them?

Re: 2026 World Cup
BC will find a way forward that is at least helpful for the club I would imagine. They likely have best owner in the league.
I am in agreement with your previous post about trying to some how play at one of the local universities. I think a touch down Atlantic or Touch down QC would at least be good marketing for league. playing home games on the road doesn't help us or the league. We desperately need an alternate fan friendly location to play in Toronto. With Rogers and our Soccer friends calling the shots... we are caught between a rock and a hard place... but everyone here knows that...
Hopefully we get a good crowd Saturday.... should be a fun day. Go ARRGOS !!!
Re: 2026 World Cup
MLS will not play during the World Cup. TFC will however, have to get their own 4-6 missed home games in either before or after the World Cup. This is also another reason the Argos will still have limited available dates at BMO after the Cup.

The Argos will still be able to practice at Lamport next season during this gong show known as the World Cup at least.... or will they be shuttling to High School fields?

I'm not sure.gilthethrill wrote: ↑Tue Aug 19, 2025 10:23 am The Argos will still be able to practice at Lamport next season during this gong show known as the World Cup at least.... or will they be shuttling to High School fields?
Re: 2026 World Cup
I don’t see why they can’t. I also don’t know why they would. If BMO or “Toronto Stadium” is off limits, then they should leave all their equipment and gear in Guelph and run the team out of there for another month or so after pre-season. It makes even more sense to then hold the displaced home games there too.gilthethrill wrote: ↑Tue Aug 19, 2025 10:23 am The Argos will still be able to practice at Lamport next season during this gong show known as the World Cup at least.... or will they be shuttling to High School fields?

Re: 2026 World Cup
I'm pretty sure they will have zero access to BMO, not even the nearby offices, much less the locker room. The entire operation will need to move for a couple of months, at least. Lamport won't work, so maybe Guelph or a high school.
