Arbuckle has really improved on the interception front but fumbles are still a problem.IssuesMcgee wrote: ↑Thu Aug 28, 2025 2:16 pm Chad.
If Arbuckle's fumble were not recovered by the Argos last game, there is a good chance we would not be having this conversation today.

Re: Chad or Nick
I don’t blame him for that fumble. It’s not because he was holding the ball too long. The rush just got in on him too quickly on that play. Much different than his fumble in Montreal where he was trying to step up to avoid the rush. A fumble in that situation can not happen. When you step up in the pocket, you must protect the ball.IssuesMcgee wrote: ↑Thu Aug 28, 2025 2:16 pm Chad.

True but if BC mounts a comeback after that play, my point remains valid regardless.AngeloV wrote: ↑Thu Aug 28, 2025 2:39 pmI don’t blame him for that fumble. I have nothing negative to say about Arbuckle after last game.
Re: Chad or Nick
I would be amused but not surprised if some other team offered Arbuckle a big contract next year, maybe Saskatchewan post-Harris, maybe Winnipeg, maybe Ottawa.

I don't think he'd take it. He knows what he is now. He's been in that situation before. Argos will pay him well with playing incentives. He wants to coach after football. Learning under Dinwiddie is the best preparation he can have for coaching and likely as OC here under Dinwiddie. He will still get playing time here should Kelly get injured again. Stability for is young family also after many years of turmoil.

Re: Chad or Nick
Of course he would take it. He's playing with a lot of confidence now and has to believe he's a legitimate starter. The only question is whether or not there will be an opening anywhere next year for a starting QB. Collaros is signed through next season, and I don't see Harris retiring on his own.Scooter McCray wrote: ↑Thu Aug 28, 2025 3:33 pmI don't think he'd take it. He knows what he is now. Re: Chad or Nick
I was interested in how PFF rated the QBs this past week. Arbuckle was 4th which raised some eyebrows amongst Argo fans.
https://www.pff.com/news/cfl-highest-gr ... rs-week-12
"Grading Highlight of the Week: QB Nick Arbuckle, Toronto Argonauts
Another week, another eye-popping box score from a quarterback who didn’t lead the league in PFF grade. This time it was Toronto’s Nick Arbuckle, who completed 27-of-34 passes for 443 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions to earn a 75.7 overall grade that ranked fourth among quarterbacks in Week 12.
First things first, 75.7 is not a bad grade by any means. That grade still reflects a strong outing, and he did many things well. Arbuckle posted an 87.1% adjusted completion rate, made two very impressive big-time throws and helped lead the Argonauts to victory by consistently taking what the defense gave him.
Arbuckle’s accuracy percentage of 53.3% and 29.4% rate of throws beyond the sticks were middle of the pack. He also had three turnover-worthy plays — two dropped interceptions and a fumble that a teammate recovered — the most of any quarterback this week.
Arbuckle managed the game well and delivered when it mattered, but those mistakes ultimately kept him from a higher grade."
Poor stats don't necessarily mean he played badly, and really good stats doesn't mean he is elite. The Argos can win with him if they play well defensively and limit mistakes by him and everyone else.

Re: Chad or Nick
Nick played a complete game grey cup MVP just last year. Leads the league in passing , leads the team in rushing. Last couple weeks offence has scored around 50 points per game ( maybe against teams that are over rated ) . And this is with an offensive line, defense and running game that is not playing the best or consistent. Think RD deserves credit for sticking with him. Think older Quarterbacks do better in this league. Nick has filled in nicely IMO. Glad for him and his family. - Go ARRGOS

In reality Dinwiddie had no choice but to stick with Arbuckle.ARGOFanIan wrote: ↑Fri Aug 29, 2025 7:13 am Nick played a complete game grey cup MVP just last year. Ya, Trevor ( Ned Flanders) Harris outplayed all the league QBs last weekend by far. CFL should distance themselves from PFF.Unplayable wrote: ↑Thu Aug 28, 2025 11:24 pm I was interested in how PFF rated the QBs this past week. Arbuckle was 4th which raised some eyebrows amongst Argo fans.
