How many receivers get named to all-star teams averaging 8.7 yards/catch? Four Argos averaged more. Brady Oliviera and Justin Rankin averaged more.OV Argo wrote: ↑Wed Oct 29, 2025 9:18 pmAnd again - tied for 1st in the league in # of receptions, and 2nd in YAC yards - how did the other top 35 receivers in the league do in those categories ? Who cares about idiot all-star voters ? Maybe any receiver who led the league in yds/catch average should automatically be named an all-star ? How bout catch to target ratio? - mean anything to you ?argolio wrote: ↑Wed Oct 29, 2025 11:21 pmHow many receivers get named to all-star teams averaging 8.7 yards/catch? Four Argos averaged more. If you feel leading the league in receptions and being 2nd in YAC yards are next to meaningless, just say so.

Pretty sure you have derided statistics as indicators of effectiveness in the past.OV Argo wrote: ↑Thu Oct 30, 2025 12:18 am Who cares about idiot all-star voters ? QB efficiency ratings are a bit of a joke to me.
Tackle totals can sometimes be a bit misleading - like if a LB who plays all downs for a shitty offence team so he's on the field tons and makes a lot of his tackles well down the field
Receiver - both yardage & # of receptions are big indicators; along with YAC yards, catch to target ratio and number of drops (the latter not recorded by the CFL ?).
Yds/ carry for a RB is wayyyyy more important of an indicator of effectiveness vs. yds./ catch by a receiver - IMO. A receiver who is a fast deep threat and gets some deep ball chances, but is otherwise not targeted much cause his hands are suspect or he doesn't run crisp routes, might end up with a top yds/ reception average however. Maybe the Stumps' Alford & Barnes along with BC's Eberhardt should have been named CFL all-stars for this year.

Who cares about all-star voters? You for one since you bring it up all the time with U Sports players.OV Argo wrote: ↑Thu Oct 30, 2025 12:18 amWho cares about idiot all-star voters ? If you caught most of your passes close to the line of scrimmage like Mital did, you'd better have a really good catch to target ratio and get some good YAC yards. But that still only got him 8.7 yds/catch. And only four TDs.
I never said that receivers who lead the league in yds/catch should automatically be all-stars.
Still waiting for that list of receivers.
Re: Kevin Mital
Leading the league in receptions and 2nd in YAC yards; yep., pretty insignificant; and spin doctors like u can explain it away as meh.argolio wrote: ↑Thu Oct 30, 2025 9:41 pmWho cares about all-star voters? All-star voting can be questionable at times or based on past performance. A poster here above - not me - raised the question of Mital not making all-star. You - as a GOB defender of the faith - had to jump in to explain away Mital not getting recognized as A-ok and making perfect sense of course.
A poster above noted it was curious that Mital did not get named an all-star; all-star voting is often curious and based on past performance at times. You - as a CFL GOB defender of the faith, had to jump in to explain away Mital being over-looked there was just A-ok and made perfect sense.

Why don't you review a list of CFL single season reception leaders for the past 40 years or so and tell us how many of them were not named either East or West all-stars or all-Canadians? Must be tons of them on that list.
Re: Kevin Mital
How many of them averaged somewhere around 8.7 yds/catch?OV Argo wrote: ↑Thu Oct 30, 2025 11:23 pm Leading the league in receptions and 2nd in YAC yards; yep., pretty insignificant; and spin doctors like u can explain it away as meh.

I never said his stats were insignificant, just not all-star worthy. A player can have a good year without that recognition.
Re: Kevin Mital
Brad Sinopoli had 91 receptions (less than Mital this season) in 2017 and averaged just 11.1 yards per reception and was named CFL East all-star; there are tons such examples of high reception totals leaders being nowhere near tops in yds/catch, yet they still get all-star recognition at times = got it? Lots of receptions can lead to lots of 1st downs and sustaining drives. Some poster above - not me - said it was interesting that Mital did not get named an all-star; and you - as a CFL same old apologist -had to jump in to explain it away as making perfect sense.argolio wrote: ↑Thu Oct 30, 2025 11:55 pmHow many of them averaged somewhere around 8.7 yds/catch?OV Argo wrote: ↑Thu Oct 30, 2025 11:23 pm Leading the league in receptions and 2nd in YAC yards; yep., pretty insignificant; and spin doctors like u can explain it away as meh.

So then, no, you couldn't find any examples. Re: Kevin Mital
I don’t believe there’s a single GM who would take Kiondre Smith over Mital. They’d be fools if they did. Mital is an exceptional player who had an outstanding season, and I think he got robbed of East All-Star status.
