Jim Barker rejoining the Argos?
Apparently, Jim Barker has told Rod Pedersen that he is rejoining the Argos' personnel department.

If this is true, I imagine it means Murphy is gone. Barker replaced Murphy in 2022.

Barker and Hufnagel, lots of experience and network in US. But they're not young. Murphy and/or Others are still required to do the heavy lifting of scouting etc...paulwoods13 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 05, 2025 3:13 pmIf this is true, I imagine it means Murphy is gone. Barker replaced Murphy in 2022.
If Murphy is still here, than the player personnel dept just improved alot in the last week.

Leaving aside the issue of whether Murphy has been disappeared again, who are these "others"? Until some up-and-coming personnel people get hired to replace Magri and Russell (assuming MLSE is willing to fund such roles, and the ops cap isn't tapped out paying for the high-priced guys up top), I have a hard time seeing us getting back to the success we had from 2021 to 2024.Scooter McCray wrote: ↑Fri Dec 05, 2025 3:32 pmMurphy and/or Others are still required to do the heavy lifting of scouting etc...

Yeah we’re doomed, Barker couldn’t recruit his way out of a paper bag. Sure, he did recruit both Zach Collaros and Trevor Harris in the same offseason, thus improving the entire league for the next 15 years, but I guess that was just beginner’s luck.
Re: Jim Barker rejoining the Argos?
I wasn't a fan of Barker's recruitment from 2013 onwards.

I have no issue with Barker returning to the Argonauts.

Not sure they really needed the 1-2 punch of both Huff and Barker; yep, very "experienced" CFL people, but also older with perhaps some old, out of touch ways ?
Be most interesting to see who Miller has for his staff, and if they add any fresh blood type personnel / scouting people; Murphy or Barker types may have plenty of US ball contacts and know how to read NFL & UFL transaction wires, but might be wise to add somebody who really knows U Sports ball and respects Canadian talent at all positions.

I agree with most of this, I’m also very interested in seeing who Miller has on his coaching staff, I hope he makes some significant coaching changes on the defensive side of the ball.OV Argo wrote: ↑Fri Dec 05, 2025 7:09 pm Not sure they really needed the 1-2 punch of both Huff and Barker; yep, very "experienced" CFL people, but also older with perhaps some old, out of touch ways ?

Supplementing with some younger up and coming scouts would also be a prudent move.
