Mike wrote a great article about Paul Masotti.
I have #88 down as the 4th greatest receiver in team history behind #10, #1 and #87.

I thought you’d have at least one of the “Big Three” on your list?Will wrote: ↑Tue Dec 16, 2025 6:37 pm https://www.argonauts.ca/2025/12/16/hog ... C2xZZq8b_A

Does anyone remember the names of the Big Three? I'm at a loss. All bells and whistles here.ARGO57 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 16, 2025 6:54 pmI thought you’d have at least one of the “Big Three” on your list? Will wrote: ↑Tue Dec 16, 2025 6:37 pm https://www.argonauts.ca/2025/12/16/hog ... C2xZZq8b_A

88, 10, 1, 87. Say those numbers and I know the name instantly. Kevin Mital who wears 10 now will hopefully have an opportunity to meet Terrence Greer soon.
Make Clemons President!!!

Re: Hogan: Catching Up With Paul Masotti
In 2015 Don Landry wrote an article in which he referred to “The Three Towers” aka “The Big Three.”, receivers Tori Gurley, Vidal Hazelton, and Kevin Elliott. Other than that I don’t recall anyone referring to the Argonauts “Big Three.”
There is little doubt that Derrell Mitchell (87), Darrell K Smith (1), and Terry Greer (10) are three of the greatest Argo receivers of all time. I guess Paul Masotti would be 4th on the list, but if you get away from pure receivers, you would have to consider Dick Shatto(22) and Michael Clemons (31) I think.

Yes, I recall those three being called the "Big Three." They were all first-year receivers, I believe, and showed some promise with Trevor Harris as their QB, though none came close to 1,000 yards if I recall. I think all three were cut by the end of the 2016 season?

If my memory is correct Milanovich cut all three receivers after an incident on a road trip to Montreal. Will wrote: ↑Wed Dec 17, 2025 10:13 am Yes, I recall those three being called the "Big Three." He released those three plus Phil Bates. The receiving corps was a little thin after that although it did give DeVier Posey a chance.ARGO57 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 17, 2025 2:40 pmIf my memory is correct Milanovich cut all three receivers after an incident on a road trip to Montreal. Will wrote: ↑Wed Dec 17, 2025 10:13 am Yes, I recall those three being called the "Big Three." Kenny Shaw had a really good two years as an Argo. It all came crashing down for him the moment he left though.ArgoRavi wrote: ↑Wed Dec 17, 2025 3:06 pmHe released those three plus Phil Bates. Re: Hogan: Catching Up With Paul Masotti
Kenny Shaw and Diontae Spencer both left in the 2016-2017 offseason. I was particular upset at the Spencer departure because I had been comfortable letting Chad Owens go after 2015 because we had Spencer supposedly to take over. The 2017 season was so random in many ways: the trade for S.J Green set the tone for that receiving corps and acquiring Armanti Edwards really helped, too.ArgoGabe22 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 17, 2025 3:42 pmKenny Shaw had a really good two years as an Argo. Re: Hogan: Catching Up With Paul Masotti
I still contend that the best receiving corps the Argos ever had was the starting 4 at the end of the 1991 season: David Williams, Darrell K. Smith, Rocket Ismail and Paul Masotti. You also had Andrew Murray and Jeff Boyd as depth plus Pinball out of the backfield. It's noteworthy that Masotti's first 1000 yard season came in 1994. That team was slightly better offensively then you might remember, but it still wasn't great. I'm going on a tangent here, I realize, but Mike Kerrigan wasn't awful at QB in 1994 for the Argos. The issue with that team was defense.
