Looks like a solid mix of CFL vets and newcomers. Only two return from last year’s staff - Mickey Donovan and Dominic Picard - with the latter becoming o-line coach. Demetrious Maxie returns as d-line and assistant head coach while Ka'Deem Carey is back as running backs coach.

Lots of new faces, which might or might not be good thing. It's good to see Donovan and Maxie back, and Quick brings a ton of experience to DC. But there certainly are some unknown commodities here.

A bit of a gamble with a lot of inexperienced coaches. The number of ex-CFL players - the majority of them Americans - who get handed CFL coaching gigs with little or zero football coaching credentials on their resumes is very notable. It might be a sucking up to modern players and their attitudes (and agents) kinda thing.

I'd still gladly take some new or fresh coaching blood over the alternative of hiring a bunch of tired old CFL hacks (Jonesclown, LaPo, Kavis Reed, etc. types) to run the team. Mr. Barker and his pal Huff bring plenty of CFL "experience".

I’m happy and intrigued to see Demetrius Maxie named as Assistant HC. We know he’s close friends with Pinball, and in his last stint with the Argos there was some Pinball talk about Maxie being so great with players and maybe one day taking on increased responsibilities.

Obviously Mr. Sunshine Ryan Dinwiddie got in the way of that idea, Maxie couldn’t stand the guy, so much so that the two engaged in that highly unprofessional shouting contest during the Elks game last year. (Bad for Maxie but even worse for a HC to pull that kind of crap)

So Maxie’s back, as D-line coach and AHC, and I love it. The anti-Dinwiddie. But I’m wondering why he didn’t get the DC job, he’s certainly earned it. A position coach as assistant HC, is that a common thing? And as AHC will he be the face of the team when Miller is unavailable?

A few weeks ago on the way to see the Packers and Steelers in Pittsburgh, my son and I stopped off at a place in Erie called Bromans Sammiches, which specialize in Birria Tacos and smash burgers. Besides the food being excellent, we happened to meet Jovon Johnson's cousin Chris, who happened to run the place. I happened to be wearing my Argos cap at the time and he told us about Jovon and that he was coaching football in Erie. Little did we know that he would be coaching the Argos d-backs at few weeks later.

Great interview with coach Miller on the RP show. I really like everything he talks about. Hopefully it goes well and they have patience to let him build the team and culture he talks about.

The more I hear him speak, and find information about him the more I want to see him have success and root for him.

Arland Bruce III had nice things to say about Miller from their one year together in Montreal.

That year was 2013. Montreal went 2-3 under NCAA hire Dan Hawkins before Jim Popp took over going 6-7 finishing 3rd in the Eastern Football Conference. Calvillo got hurt early, so Miller had to work with youngsters Josh Neiswander, Tanner Marsh & Troy Smith at QB.

I know that when I want a ringing endorsement for my team's head coach that I turn to Arland Bruce III as the voice of reason :?
