The Argos selected more U Sport players than any other team --9 of their 11 selections. . They were the only team to pick a U Sport player in 1st round. Just an interesting observation.

How did the Argos miss the baggage that came with their 1st Global choice and how come nobody has picked up Pene yet?

The Argos knew about this guy's baggage, as did every team. As for Pene, with CFL teams only allowed to dress 2 Globals, teams tend to draft either Punters or players that that will never sign so they don't have to worry about it. JC Abbott really explained the flaws of the CFL Global initiative on the 2 & Out Podcast, I suggest you listen to it, it was interesting.

Just scrap the Global Draft and be done with it.

You may get your wish as early as next year.

It would not be a surprise if the new regime got rid of the Global concept altogether. It was supposed to be a revenue generator but it has failed to add any revenue to the league. Now here is a revolutionary idea--just Canadian and non-Canadians players.

It was a pipe-dream in terms of generating any international interest in the CFL - that is just never going to happen and it was delusional to think that way. How bout huge efforts to market and promote the game in our own country, you morons.

Also, instead of increasing Canadian talent - you know, guys getting a chance to play pro football in their own country - it was also about the GOBs getting to add a couple more American trained players, who were born elsewhere, over Canadian players.

This league has been run by clowns for so long and just keeps getting worse. I'm hoping for a good 2026 season cause it well could be my last having anything to with the CFL. There's other real Canadian football I can go out and support and watch (but sadly next to none of it on TV - oh say can't you see)

I agree, the global initiative has been a total waste of time, would make sense to open up a couple of roster spots for Canadian players.
Your comments regarding the leagues “leadership” are very accurate.

CFL GM’s commenting on the complications of holding the CFL draft ahead of the NFL draft not knowing if the player will sign down south as undrafted free agents.

Making the draft process more difficult than it already is will only hurt the talent level in the field. But that won't affect revenue during the regular season one bit.
