Very surprised about Logan. Thought he was a sure thing.

Re: 2026 roster/cuts
Would be good to know thought process into the cuts.
Casey and OLine particularly.
There is just next to none third party objective media coverage on this team, let alone investigative journalism happening.
At least the CFL is no longer being undervalued as a sports asset in Canada and elsewhere. Maybe Toronto business, government, media, people will finally understand you can't consistently pull in large viewing audience week in, week out, for decades and ignore it and not give it its due.

Re: 2026 roster/cuts
Casey wants to play, and probably feels he has earned that right. The Argos can't hide him anywhere if their plans were not to start him. I guess LB rotation is not something thats done, like on D Line.

Re: 2026 roster/cuts
Is Miller really going to dress only 6 O-linemen ?
Gawd I hope he doesn't start blindly following what the majority of GOB deep thinkers do.
And 10 DB types on the active roster (if Paul's list is right) ??? - ooops, Pickett is listed as a DB but will play at S-OLB (which is really more a DB anyways), but that would still leave 9 DBs dressed - for a 5 man position group? = laughable roster management if that happens.

Re: 2026 roster/cuts
I see a bunch of wise moves from a.very experienced football braintrust.
Those lamenting the lack of NAT OL backup should note that Dankwah is a highly-regarded prospect who will surely see plenty of action this year. Also I’m wondering if they have indications that Henning may arrive this summer?
As for Logan I suggested last week that he was on the bubble because the truth is Hicks can do everything he can and more. They wisely opted to go with the big-bodied Jones, who gives the team so much more in terms of short yardage and pass protection. Also happy to see excellent prospect Mombo make PR.
Dropping Casey was a surprise, but I noticed that Slywka was playing at LB in Guelph, and playing well. If it came down to a choice between Casey and Slywka I think they made the right choice.

Casey is a big body inside LB type; whereas Slywka is a DB/ safety really who would only play S-OLB (so either he backs-up Pickett or plays safety or as an extra DB in a certain package). Harleimana, Cassar and draft pick Mackenzie are all more inside LB types so they have that covered for good ole depth.
I like the idea of a diverse RB group, so rather have a big back to go with a choice between Hicks & Logan; but we'll see how that run game shapes up and if Jones gets plenty of carries and if I. Smith gets any work. I would have kept Logan - who is also a good returner - over dressing 4 back-up DBs however.
Dressing just 6 O-linemen is just plain dumb & myopic roster management IMO - yet we see it from a number of CFL teams; how'd anybody like to see a D-lineman forced to put on an O-line jersey and go into the game to protect Chad Kelly if 2 O-lineman go down in a game (and this happened often enough in recent CFL history) ?
Re: 2026 roster/cuts
They have a week 1 bye. Let’s hold our horses on what the actual roster will be 10 days from now.

Re: 2026 roster/cuts
That's why he is listed that way. Same for Slywka. It's a six-man unit and I expect they will dress eight total, possibly nine. But if there's one thing we can be sure about, the roster today will not be the roster in 11 days.OV Argo wrote: ↑Sun May 31, 2026 10:55 am Is Miller really going to dress only 6 O-linemen ?

Re: 2026 roster/cuts
Right - game roster in 10 days will tell the roster management story. Moves can still be made.
Lots of D-line listed, but that is the one position group that sees a bunch of different guys rotated in throughout the game (just not 9 of them); this does not happen with DBs and you rarely even see CFL teams play a 6th DB lots for extra coverage.
