Argos @ Montreal Game Thread

Post by gilthethrill »

Injury report was out today....Chad Kelly did not have his name on it! Hendrix & Herslow are nursing Hamstring injuries (Herslow tweaked his on the Argos first day of TC). Hopefully this isn't a sign of things to come this year. Argos play well at McGill especially with Kelly. Argos start the season
1-0. Screw the writers who will all pick the Als.

Sooner or later, David Alexander is going to walk off the field after an Alouettes loss. Why not this week?

That said, the Als looked typically formidable last week in all phases.

Can Mike Miller match 2021 Ryan Dinwiddie by winning his debut as head coach on the road against a tough opponent?

Davis Alexander "The Magic Man" luck runs out Friday night. Sack Lunches all around for the rejuvenated Argo D. Coxie/Kelly rekindle their special brand of Montreal majique. Toute C'est Biens dans La Belle Province.

Montreal’s good but not as good as last year imo. They lost two elite players in Mack and Sankey ,but didn’t really replace either one. The running game and the secondary are question marks. I know I’m a homer but I like our chances Friday.

Only one back-up receiver dressed, and that's your main return guy in Grant? - 2 receivers go out with injury and you can't run your basic offence anymore.

Rookie D-half and Preister (not good in coverage IMO, but maybe helped by playing safety) is going to be concerning for the secondary; same with 2 new OTs for the O.

Priester will start at free safety while Ceasar will be at half.

OV's concerns should be allayed as the Argos have two Canadian backup o-linemen (Piazza and Dankwah). It's great to see Dankwah back in the lineup and he can back up at guard and tackle. Bland will play LT while former Bombers starter Randolph will play RT.

Canadian RB Smith is one of two running backs dressed along with Hicks.

I am assuming that the two players on the new reserve list are RB Jones and rookie Canadian OL Coakes.

Overall, I am excited to see what this lineup can do tomorrow night.

EDIT: Ben Grant informed me that Coakes and Jones have been put on the PR while WR Miller and OL Kemp are on the reserve list.
