Re: Luke Wilson’s Thoughts
The defence for Luke Willson is that he has people talking and discussing CFL. This is true, but what is the nature of the discussion? Luke says it's junk. Young non CFL watcher...oh, well that just confirms what I've been told, I don't need to check it out for myself, thanks Luke.
Luke says the league wants to, and needs to bring in younger audience, proceeds to identify in his opinion how the game has weaknesses that this audience would recognize and not enjoy.
Has he made any comments regarding last Friday's Hamilton win over Montreal? I did not tune in.
Reminds me of the reporter interviewing a neighbor of a murderer. Neighbor-was the nicest guy you'd ever meet, really friendly. Reporter-do you believe he killed all those people? Oh for sure, that's all he ever talked about.

I don't mean to bump a super old thread but I thought he called a really good game tonight on commentary. I don't know if the TSN execs talked to him in the off-season or whatever but it's night and day compared to how he was last season. I haven't checked his social media, but commentary wise, he brought in some insightful commentary both ways.

A refreshing change from Glen Suitor’s tired commentary.argosrule1524 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 13, 2026 12:31 am I don't mean to bump a super old thread but I thought he called a really good game tonight on commentary. Looking forward to what DAZN can bring next year in terms of personalities and presentation. That will only make TSN better.
It is great to see an ex NFLer like Willson appreciate the CFL game and bring that passion to cover it.

I agree; so sick of Suitor, and LaPo gets on my nerves as well with the same old defending same old CFL ways.ARGO57 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 13, 2026 9:18 amA refreshing change from Glen Suitor’s tired commentary.argosrule1524 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 13, 2026 12:31 am I don't mean to bump a super old thread but I thought he called a really good game tonight on commentary. Willson has come across as a pompous @$$ on social media it seems, but on TSN doing commentary he is well spoken and can break down plays, formations, etc. Another poster mentioned some of his terminology and other references being kinda American football like, but what would we expect from a S. Ontario guy who went to play US college ball. I think he can get better and be a boost to TSN's tired old ways, but people have different opinions or ideas on the commentators (i've always felt Duane Forde was so superior to other guys they've had, but some find him boring) TSN should get another former Canadian college ball player in the mix to provide some contrast and off-set all the American football people they use
Re: Luke Wilson’s Thoughts
What I bolded is bang-on. Willson has toned it down slightly on Twitter after, I believe, he got into some trouble with TSN execs and perhaps some colleagues, too. His analysis is solid, though, and a good change for TSN.OV Argo wrote: ↑Sat Jun 13, 2026 4:35 pmI agree; so sick of Suitor, and LaPo gets on my nerves as well with the same old defending same old CFL ways.ARGO57 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 13, 2026 9:18 amA refreshing change from Glen Suitor’s tired commentary.argosrule1524 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 13, 2026 12:31 am I don't mean to bump a super old thread but I thought he called a really good game tonight on commentary. There will be opportunities for former USports/CFL players and coaches/managers to get on DAZN next year. Chris Streveler seems to be lobbying for one of those positions and I think John Murphy may be doing so, also, as he has been doing extensive CFL analysis on Twitter.

*Luke Willson. People forget the double l.
I actually enjoyed him on the broadcast and much preferred than his little thought box last year between plays.

I agree he was very good, so much better than Suitor's tired old approach.ArgoGabe22 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 14, 2026 1:25 pm *Luke Willson. People forget the double l.

Luke Wilson was fantastic IMO. Defensive CFL fans are so easy to get upset over nothing.paulwoods13 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 14, 2026 1:39 pmI agree he was very good, so much better than Suitor's tired old approach.ArgoGabe22 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 14, 2026 1:25 pm *Luke Willson. People forget the double l.

I actually really liked the way he worked with Duane Forde in a 3 man booth last week. I would welcome more of that.
Suitor has to go. Babbles for the sake of babbling.
This gem from him near the end nd of the first half last night3
Trevor Harris is closing in on 300 yards in just a half.
Rod Smith: he’s at 196 right now.
Me: Suitor is such an idiot.

Dud Suitor actually say "Suitor is such a idiot"? I hope so, for his sake.AngeloV wrote: ↑Sun Jun 14, 2026 2:19 pmLuke Wilson was fantastic IMO.
