Ben Grant said on his podcast that originally the spot was on the 1 yard line but was moved back to the 2. With the Argos in Hurry Up, it went unnoticed until it was too late. Kelly did gain a yard on that sneak.ARGO57 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 22, 2026 4:21 pmI’m with you regarding the play calling, higher percentage passes and first downs a much more sensible strategy when playing with the lead.OV Argo wrote: ↑Mon Jun 22, 2026 2:46 pmArgos had a 20 some point lead late into the 3rd quarter when Kelly threw his first of 3 2nd half picks - and again, it was an outstanding play by Ottawa LB Cormier that cannot be chalked up to a bad throw by Kelly; then 2 more INTs on throws well down the field in the 4th. So - WTF is a team with a huge lead in the 4th making risky downfield throws ? This IMO is all on the offensive coaches and their play-calling; they should have been banging the run game or trying some off-script screens, or have Kelly roll-out and only throw to a wide-open receiver or if not take-off for positive yardage. I see a lot of simple, questionable or dumb coaching decisions (along with some putrid defence) so far this season amongst all the high scoring. big offence games.RichK wrote: ↑Mon Jun 22, 2026 1:20 pm
4TD and 4 INT is one crazy QB stat line I couldn’t recall ever seeing before. Google said Kelly did it once before against Montreal but that may be an AI hallucination? (It’s been done twice in the NFL in the last 20 years)
He’s still not game-sharp and I expect the bad reads to dwindle. I don’t like that he got hit so much, still lots or room for improvement on the line. And I’m not sure I like seeing him doing the short yardage. Makes me cringe every time.
Shoutout to Jeremiah Ojo’s best game as an Argo so far. He plays a lot like Robbie Smith.
I also didn’t like Miller’s play calling down by the goal line, when you have a good size end zone use it perhaps with a play action roll out with the option to run the ball in or dump it off to a receiver.

Unfortunately he needed 2 yards to score, drives me nuts when they load up the box and plunge up the middle when you have the whole end zone at your disposal.gilthethrill wrote: ↑Mon Jun 22, 2026 4:44 pmBen Grant said on his podcast that originally the spot was on the 1 yard line but was moved back to the 2. I was happy to see Miller gamble there, even though the play got messed up. The last guy was way too conservative in those situations IMO. Sometimes you gotta roll the dice and show some faith in your players.

I wouldn’t be so quick to blame the play calling on the picks. Every play has options. My opinion was that with the yards being racked up as easily as they were, Kelly got greedy, perhaps looking for a record day in both yards and TD’s. In the end it didn’t cost them, and I don’t expect to see that again.

IMO coaches should gamble way more than they do. Short field goals get you three points (hooray), but also let the other team take possession on the 40. IMO there are times when you'd be better off taking zero points (if the gamble fails) and leaving the opponent to start on its own 10 or thereabouts. We kicked two very short FGs this past game, which was too Dinwiddie-like for my taste.

I strongly dislike teams getting thr ball at the 40 after a FG. Too generous.paulwoods13 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 22, 2026 5:35 pmIMO coaches should gamble way more than they do. It will be even worse when they shorten the length of the field next year.gilthethrill wrote: ↑Mon Jun 22, 2026 5:45 pmI strongly dislike teams getting thr ball at the 40 after a FG. I agree. Taking 3 when you drive inside the 10 is a let down. You’ll probably see a lot more of that next year when you have to get inside the 35 just to have a shot at a FG.paulwoods13 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 22, 2026 5:35 pm [
