$15 million USD[/b]. That is Cdn $22 million. What could the Argos do, with even a fraction of that, forgetting salaries because that is cap-controlled, but overall?
Without expansion fees MLS is a house of cards. No TV money because the TV audience isn't there, attendance is okay not great and the gate revenue isn't huge because they can't command high ticket prices other than Miami. I cannot understand how MLSE can pay the team salary they do against incoming revenues and make money on TFC. Make it make sense. Is the league still expanding? And what owners think dropping hundreds of millions of dollars on a team has an ROI on it. The last teams in are going to be in a world of financial hurt.

I have never understood how that league is financially viable myself.

Just like I don't get how the NHL manages to pay players million$; their TV contract is a miniscule fraction of what the NFL gets.

NHL paying millions but a fraction of what the NFL and NBA are paying their players.
Bench players in the NBA are making what NHL superstars are making.

The NBA is another I don't understand. The TV contract is large, but in no way in line with viewership. The network(s) paying it are losing their shirts. The TV audience is multiples smaller than in Michael Jordan's day.

Add MLB to that list, not nearly as much interest in baseball as in the past but obscene amounts of money still being given to the players.
You have to wonder how long this can continue.

And the Argos and CFL get stuck at the bottom with better than decent TV numbers. In Canada all the money goes to hockey followed by 1 team leagues MLB, NBA that only draw interest when winning.

But those leagues also get significant $$$ from US TV. That's why you can't compare CFL revenues to any of those leagues.
As I have said before, I don't know how much revenue TSN takes in from CFL. I can't see Save On foods covering the what they pay for rights.

Maybe, but if you are a Canadian advertiser whose commercial time do you want to buy - CFL drawing 500,000 per game with big games over 1 Million, playoffs 1.5 Million and Grey Cup at 5 Million or.....
Raptors below 100,000 (maybe) and no chance post season foreseeable future
Blue Jay's last in their division may draw 300,000 but will get smaller and smaller the more the season slips away which it could given their early schedule and knowing the management team is inept and remains in place.

My point is those teams get big money from the split of the national US tv deals. I think the local money they get from Canadian sponsors is not much higher than the CFL gets, but keep in mind, they don’t have to share that local money 9 ways.

It's a catch 22. On one hand, I want CFL players to make more, but on the other hand these huge salaries are kind of ruining sports.

Inflated salaries lead to players being a bigger deal than the teams they play for. The NBA is really bad for that because you have a huge chunk of fans who will migrate to and cheer for whatever team has the most star power.

I'm also sick of endless, breathless discussions in hockey coverage about player salaries and league revenue. I really don't care anymore. If there is enough money to pay players living wages and have the games broadcasted in some manner, everthing else is just noise.

NFL players are more jaded than Hollywood celebrities and are completely unrelatable.

The MLB has come down to teams just buying their way to victory.

That ship sailed 35 years ago when Canseco became the first $4M player.
