The Alouettes have signed former Laval QB Arnaud Desjardins.
Desjardins goes 7 for 8 and leads the Als to their only TD drive in the ex. game against Ottawa; gee, i wonder if he could win 3rd string over that stiff Morgan (who threw a pick and looked useless as usual) ?

I didn’t see the game but Arnaud Desjardins went 7 of 8 in passing against Ottawa for 71 yards; it looks like he outplayed James Morgan who threw for only 31 yards and an interception. Has Desjardins at least played his way onto the practice roster, if not 3rd string on the active roster. I don't know that he would take a PR spot as he has prospects with a local law firm in Montreal.
Not sure I would take a 3rd string job over a law firm, but it's not uncommon for guys to pass up higher paying steady jobs because they love the game that much.

If Desjardins out plays Morgan (which seems quite likely) and still is relegated to 3rd string QB on the depth chart I would definitely walk and pursue the career as a lawyer.

At least he would be on the active roster as 3rd string. That's the best he can hope for at the moment as Alexander is #1 and Crum seems set at #2.

The Als are set with Alexander & Crum as 1-2.
Neither of Morgan or Desjardins was in the original TC plans for QB; but 2 young American guys i guess totally bombed early as they got cut; and a 3rd i think was injured. So Morgan & Desjardins got the call well into TC. Macocia didn't draft Desjardins and didn't invite him to camp as a FA - this was a guy from the area and available when they all of a sudden needed extra arms. Morgan was a stiff last year after being around the team for some time; Desjardins - with a few practices in TC - looked way better. If Morgan makes 3rd string there, it's obvious what's going on. Maciocia last year drafted former Carabins QB Jon Senecal - like Desjardins an outstanding QB talent and Vanier winning QB - and he got cut over Morgan, and they even brought in ex-Argo QB Cam Dukes when they had injury problems, instead of bringing back Senecal.
I'll be quite surprised if Desjardins makes 3rd string there; Maas & Maciocia would be fearful of injury issues (Alexander nicked again last night?), and then somebody clamoring for the Canadian guy to get a shot - a QB they had next to no respect for in the first place.
